Configuring Sender Email ID

Setting up a custom email ID as the sender’s address can be achieved in two steps. First, authenticate the email address, and then configure it as the email preference for the application. This helps ensure emails are not flagged as spam, allowing important notifications to reach the inbox directly.

The preferred email address will be used as the sender's email ID for dispatching emails generated by user modules, alarm rules, schedules, notification profiles, certificate expiry, and workflow.

The two main steps in configuring the preferred sender email ID are provided below:
  1. Configure Email Authentication
  2. Configure Email Preference

If the email ID is already configured and verified, then proceed directly to the Configure Email Preference. Else, you need to create the new sender email ID and verify it before setting it as the preferred sender email.

Configuring Email Authentication

Email authentication process allows you to approve email IDs from new domains to be included as the preferred sender email ID.
To authenticate/approve email IDs:
  1. Access the End Application.
  2. Click the Setup icon in the top right corner of the page.
  3. Click Email Settings under the GENERAL section. The Email Preferences tab is selected by default.

4.  Click the Email Authentication tab. The email IDs that are unauthenticated are displayed under the respective domains. You can verify any already added email ID from here and make it available for preference setting, or add new email ID.
5.  Click the Add Sender Email Address button to add and authenticate a new sender email ID.

6. Provide the details, then click Add.

The sender email ID details will be created and displayed under the respective domain section, and an email is sent to the sender email ID added.

Important: Check with the sender email ID owner, who is also a user in the application to forward the mail with subject "Zoho IOT Organization Email Confirmation".

Before accepting the invitation, ensure that the public domain email ID is safe.

7. Click Accept Invitation.

The sender email ID will be verified and displayed under the domain section.

  1. Click the Authenticate Now link to authenticate the domain.

On completing the above steps, the new sender email ID will be available for selection in the Email Preference tab.

Configuring Email Preferences

1. Switch to the Email Preference tab.
2. Click Edit.

3. Select the email ID as the Email Notification. If the required email address is not present in the drop down list, ensure you have authenticated the email ID in the Email Verification tab.

4. Click Save.

Deleting Sender Email Address

1. Switch to the Email Authentication tab.
2. Hover over the email ID which you want to delete, then click the Delete button.

3. Click Delete in the confirmation screen.

When a verified and authenticated sender email address used in any email notification is deleted, it will be replaced with the default email address configured in the references section.
If the email ID to be deleted is configured as the default sender email ID it cannot be delete, and the following error message will be displayed.

4. Click Save.
