Note: The Holiday feature is not available by default. Please contact support at support@zohoiot.com for enabling the feature in your application.
The Holidays feature enables you to highlight and visualize holiday periods directly within your data views. By marking holidays across selected time ranges (day, week, or month), it helps you better interpret trends and patterns in both
widgets and reports.
This document outlines the step-by-step process to create and use the holiday feature, and demonstrates how to apply it in widgets and reports for improved data visualization and understanding.
Creating a Holiday
Prerequisite:
Ensure that business hours are created in advance, as each holiday must be associated with a business hour during configuration.Refer to
Configuring Business Hours and Shifts document for more details before proceeding with Holidays.
To create a holiday,
- Access the End Application.
- Click on the Setup icon to display the setup options page.
- Click General, and Application Settings in the left pane.
Click the Holidays tab.

Click the Holidays Group button.

Note: Holiday Groups are used to organize multiple holidays into logical sets based on specific criteria such as region, location, or operational requirements. Each group contains a collection of holidays that can be applied consistently across devices, business hours, widgets, and reports. This allows flexible configuration where different sites or operations follow different holiday schedules.
IIoT Example:
In an industrial IoT setup with multiple factory locations, separate Holiday Groups can be created for each region—for example, India Plant Holidays and US Plant Holidays. The India group would include local holidays like Diwali and Labor Day, while the US group would include Thanksgiving and Independence Day. These groups can then be assigned to respective factory operations, ensuring accurate data analysis and visualization based on region-specific holidays.
Provide the necessary details for the hoilday group.
Click Add Holidays and add the holidays to the group.

Click Save.
Hereafter, the Holiday Groups can be used in widgets and reports to visually highlight holidays within the selected time range. This provides clear context while viewing data, helping users quickly identify patterns such as drops in activity, reduced operations, or anomalies that coincide with holidays.
Assigning Holidays to a Device/Asset
Holidays can be assigned to an asset to define its non-operational or limited working periods. By associating holidays with an asset (through business hours), the system can accurately reflect when the asset is expected to be inactive.
To assign holidays to a device/asset,
- Access the End Application.
- Click Devices/Assets in the left tab.
- Click on the name of the device/asset for which you want to set the holiday.
- Click Actions > Configure Operating time.

Select Clone from Location or Customize.
If Clone from Location is selected, the holiday set for the Location will be assigned to the device/asset.With Customize, you will be able to select any holiday group from the available list.
7. Click Save.
- If a day is a holiday for all the models but has different groups, the holiday marker is displayed.
- If all the models contain the same category (Even in different holiday groups), then highlight is displayed
- If all the Instances have holidays from the different category, then a marker is displayed.
- If all the models contain multiple category, then a marker can be shown. If the color is a single color in this case it can be highlighted.
Assigning Holidays to a Location
Holidays can be assigned to a location to define the collective non-operational periods for all assets within that location. By associating holidays at the location level, the system ensures that every asset under it follows a consistent working schedule.
To assign holidays to a location,
- Access the End Application.
- Click Locations.
- Click Actions > Configure Operating time.
5. Select Clone from Location or Customize.
If Clone from Location is selected, the holiday set for the Location will be assigned to the device/asset.With Customize, you will be able to select any holiday group from the available list.

6. Click Next.
7. Select the application criteria whether "Apply holiday to all locations in hierarchy" or the "Selected location"
If "All the location under the Hierarchy" is selected the holiday will be applied to all the locations under the selected location. With "The selected Location", the holiday will be applied to that particular location only.
Note: Time series Chart (Line, Column, Area, Bar, Combined), Calendar
- Access the End Application.
- In the dashboard view, click Actions > Add Widget to invoke the New Widget addition screen.
- Click on Charts in the Select Widget Type section.

The chart for the week will be displayed with the calendar icon, depicting the holiday that was present last week.
Note:
- In Advanced Options, users can enable the “Highlight Holiday” option to mark holidays in the view.
- Users can choose a single color, where all holidays are highlighted using the selected color.
- Holidays are not highlighted for short-range views such as Last 1 hour, Last 24 hours, Today, Yesterday, and Yearly (day-wise grouping).
- When data is grouped daily, dates that fall on holidays are highlighted; on hover, a tooltip displays the date, holiday name, and holiday group name.
- In model-specific scenarios, where different models have different holidays (e.g., one model has a holiday on Oct 2 while another does not or has a different holiday), the date is not directly highlighted. Instead, it is indicated with a marker (such as a calendar icon), and the tooltip shows that the date contains a holiday.
