Creating a Location

1. Access the End Application.
   
2. Click Locations in the left pane. The location page is displayed. Here, you can choose to create the location from the Hierarchy or List view.
   
3. In the Hierarchy view, click Add Location in the top right corner of the screen or click on the Add Child link next to the parent.
   (or)
   In the List View, click Add Location in the top right corner of the screen.
   
   
4. Click Proceed, and select the model in the next screen. The Location addition form is displayed.
   
5. Provide the necessary details in the form.
   
   
1. Name - The name of the location.
   
2. Description - A description of the location.
   
3. Parent Location - The parent under which the new location will be added in the hierarchy.
4. Connected Gateway - The gateway which will fetch data from the datapoint added for the location.
   
5. Geolocation - The geographical coordinates for the location. This will be used in displaying the location on the map.
   
   
    

7. Click Add to complete. The location will be added with all the template configurations that was present for the selected model.

8. Click Actions, then select the desired option to make any instance level modification to this location.

Availability

All Location operations require necessary permissions. Refer to Users and Profiles document for more details.

Check Feature Availability and Limits

Unmanage/Manage Locations  

Note: The option to unmanage will be available if the location is currently active, while the option to manage will appear if the location is inactive, i.e., in an unmanaged state.

1. Access the End Application.
   
2. Select Locations in the left pane.
   
3. Click on the name of the Location you want to manage/unmanage. This opens the location's information page.
   
4. Click on Actions.
   

5. Select Manage/Unmanage from the drop-down list.

6. Click Manage/Unmanage in the location alert pop up.

The location will now be unmanaged or managed as per the option selected.

Editing a Location 

1. Click Actions > Edit Details to modify the required detail.
   
2. Click Update to save the changes.
   

Note: Bulk Update - Locations properties can be updated in bulk i.e. for multiple locations at the same time using the Bulk Update option. Refer to the Bulk Update section in Configuring Location document for more details. Similar to locations Assets and Devices can be updated/deleted in bulk.

Deleting a Location   

1. Access the End Application.
   
2. Click Locations in the left pane. The location page is displayed. Here, you can choose to view the location from the Hierarchy or List view.
   
3. In the Hierarchy view, click Actions > Delete next to the location name.
   (or)

In the List view, click any location that you want to delete, then click Actions > Delete.

4. Click Check Dependencies to verify that the location has children nodes and dependencies.

5. If there are dependencies, the below message is displayed. Click the View Dependencies text link to view the dependent child location.

If there are no dependencies, you can proceed to delete.

6. Click Delete in the resultant screen.

Note: Bulk Delete - Locations deleted in bulk i.e. for multiple locations at the same time using the Delete option. Refer to the Bulk Update section in Configuring Location document for more details. Similar to locations, Assets and Devices can be updated/deleted in bulk.
