Enabling and editing an instance specific overview dashboard
An instance-specific overview dashboard is created and available exclusively to a particular device, asset, or location. Once an instance-specific dashboard is enabled for a model, the template based overview dashboard will not be available in any instance derived based on the application.
Only one instance specific dashboard will be available for each instance, and can be edited to configure them with widgets.
Instance specific dashboards can use datapoints only from that particular device, asset, or location instance.
All overview dashboard operations require necessary permissions. Refer user profiles document for more details.To add an instance-specific overview dashboard, you must first enable the corresponding option that allows the creation of such datapoints.

To enable instance specific datapoint addition,
- Access the Developer Application.
- Select Asset or Devices or Location in the left pane based on the model to which you want to add the instance specific overview dashboard. For this illustration, Device is selected.
- Click the name of the model to which you want to add the instance specific overview dashboard. For this illustration, the device model Smart Equipment is considered.
- Select Model settings in the left pane.
- Toggle ON the instance specific overview dashboard option and click Save.
Instance specific overview dashboard addition for the model (eg., Smart Equipment) is now enabled.
Each instance based on the model will have its own blank overview dashboard, which you'll need to customize by editing and adding widgets individually.
Editing an instance specific dashboard
You can edit an instance-specific overview dashboard to add/delete/resize/reconfigure widgets in it.
To edit a instance specific datapoint,
- Access the End Application.
- Select Devices > Devices in the left pane. You can select Assets to edit the overview dashboard in an asset or Location to edit the overview dashboard in an location.
- Click the name of the device you want to add the command to. This opens the device's information page. For this illustration, the device: Smart Fan is considered.
- Select the Overview tab in the instance's information page.
Note: Ensure the device is based on the model for which the option was enabled. - Click the pencil icon. This will open the dashboard builder.
- Add/Delete/Resize the required widgets.
- Click Save.
The overview dashboard of this particular instance will be updated with the modifications done.
Note: This dashboard will not be propagated as the overview dashboard template of the model.See Also
