Manage Journeys

You can edit, clone, and delete a journey in your builder. This article will help you learn how to manage your journeys in Zoho Marketing Automation.

Edit Journeys

You can edit all the components of a journey that is in draft. However, once you activate a journey you cannot edit the trigger components but can edit the process and action components of a live journey. Read on to learn how to edit a journey in draft and how to edit a live journey.
To edit a journey in draft:
  1. From the navigation tool bar, choose Journeys and select View Journeys .
  2. Select the journey you want to edit from the journey list view.
  3. Click the Edit icon on the desired trigger, process and actions components of the journey.
  4. Make the edits and click Save .
  5. Click Review and Launch to activate the journey.
  6. The total number of contacts qualified for this journey and a brief note about the criteria and goals configured for your contacts will be displayed. 
    1. Note : You can edit the goal and re-entry criteria for your journey by clicking the Edit icon.
  7. Click Launch to make your journey live.
  8. If you are still working on your journey and you wish to launch it later, click Save .
  9. You can access this draft from the journey list view. Click on the required journey to open the journey builder, where you can make any necessary changes. Click Review and Launch to make your journey li ve. 
To edit a live journey:
  1. From the navigation tool bar, choose Journeys and select View Journeys .

  2. Select the active journey you want to edit from the journey list view.
  3. Click Pause  in the top-right corner above the journey builder.

  4. Click the  Edit button.

  5. Click the Edit icon on the desired process and actions components of the journey.

  6. Make the edits and click Save .
  7. Click Relaunch to activate the journey again.

Note : You cannot edit triggers in an active journey.

Pause Journeys

You can pause an active journey if you need to perform any edits to the process and actions components.
To pause a live journey:
  1. From the navigation tool bar, choose Journeys and select View Journeys .

  2. Select the active journey you want to pause from the journey list view.

  3. Click Pause  in the top-right corner above the journey builder.

Clone Journeys

You can clone journeys while in draft and while they are active. Follow the steps below to clone a journey in draft and an active journey.
To clone a journey
  1. From the navigation tool bar, choose Journeys and select View Journeys .

  2. Mouse over the journey you want to clone from the journey list view.
  3. Click the More icon in the far-right corner of the journey and click Clone .

  4. Alternatively, select the journey you want to clone from the journey list view.
  5. Click the More icon in the top-right corner above the journey builder and click Clone .

Delete Journeys

To delete a journey in draft:
  1. From the navigation tool bar, choose Journeys and select View Journeys .

  2. Mouse over the journey you want to delete from the journey list view.
  3. Click the More icon in the top-right corner and click Delete .

  4. Alternatively, select the journey you want to delete from the journey list view.
  5. Click the More icon in the top-right corner above the journey builder and click Delete .  

To delete a live journey:
  1. From the navigation tool bar, choose Journeys and select View Journeys .

  2. Select the active journey you want to delete from the journey list view.
  3. Click Pause  in the top-right corner above the journey builder.

  4. Click the More icon on the top-right corner above the journey builder and click Delete .

X-Ray

Explore the paths your contacts have taken during their journey using this feature. Find out which components of your journey are the most and least engaging, as well as which paths your contacts have taken most frequently and least frequently. This feature can only be enabled if at least one contact has entered an active journey with multiple output components, such as those with If/Else, Multi-way Split, and Random Split conditions. Click the enable button to view a green line that shows the most engaged component, a yellow line showing the least engaged component, a blue line that shows the most engaged path and a red line showing the least engaged path.


Trace Contact Path

You can view the exact path your contacts have taken at any point in the Journey using the Trace Contact Path feature. This allows you to track their movement, analyze engagement, and edit your Journey flow issues.
To trace a contact's path in a Journey:  
  1. From the navigation tool bar, choose Journeys and select View Journeys .

  2. Select the active journey for which you want to trace contact path. In this case, we will be selecting the journey 'Trace Path'.

  3. The trace contact path option will be in the bottom-left corner of the journey tab. Enter the contact's email address and click 'View Path' to view the path they have taken in your journey.

  4. As seen from the screenshot below, the path the contact has taken will be highlighted in blue and information about when the contact passed through each component will be displayed on the left.
  5. You can also click the Clear button to remove the entered email address and enter a different contact’s email to trace their path.
  6. Click Remove Contact from this Journey to remove a contact from the Journey. Once removed, they cannot re-enter unless re-entry is enabled in the Journey settings.

Contact Details

The Contact Details section provides insights into the contact’s Journey, including:
  1. Trigger Type: The event that initiated the Journey for the contact.
  2. Trigger Time: The exact time the contact was triggered into the Journey.
  3. Current Stage: The present stage of the contact within the Journey.
  4. Last Execution Time: The most recent time a trigger or action was executed for the contact in the Journey.
  5. Total Time in Journey/ Contact’s Path Duration: The duration the contact has spent in the Journey.

Timeline

The Timeline section provides a chronological record of the contact’s movement through the Journey. It includes key events such as when the contact entered the Journey, any updates to their lead score, interactions with messages, and their exit from the workflow. Additionally, the Timeline allows you to compare the current state of the Journey with how it was when the contact was actively moving through it, helping you identify any changes that may have occurred over time.

Notes
Note: Each contact follows a unique path, and the details displayed in the Contact Details and Timeline sections will vary based on their specific interactions within the Journey.

Journey Status

There are three states when a journey would be present at any given time:
  1. Draft : When you are still building a journey for your contacts.
  2. Active : When the journey is live and currently processing contacts.
  3. Paused : When a journey is paused to make edits to the process and action components.
