Connect Custom domain

Connect Custom domain

You can connect your own domain with Zoho Marketing Automation to create branded Smart URLs. Customized smart links are easy for users to recognize as they carry your brand name thereby promoting your reach.

When you add a custom domain, the ma.zoho.com part of the smart link created with public domain is replaced with your domain.
We recommend your domain for Smart URL to be different from your website domain. If your website domain is used, there will be a break in the connection of your website with your web server thereby affecting the functioning. Whereas you can use your sub-domain to customize your smart URLs.

Add a custom domain

  1. Navigate to Settings.

  2. Select Web under Marketing Channels.

  3. Navigate to Smart URL page and click Connect Now .

  4. Enter your domain under  Custom Short Domain Name .

  5. Under  Home Page URL, enter URL of the Page that appears when only the domain is invoked.

  6. Under  Error Page URL, enter URL of the page that appears when the invoked Smart URL is erroneous or deleted.

  7. Click Save .

Note :
  1. You can add only one domain for Smart URL service.
  2. The URL value given under the Custom Short Domain Name should not be as same as the URL value under the Homepage URL field and the Error Page URL field.

Verify a custom domain

Once your domain is added, you will be taken to a page with instructions to get your DNS record updated. The Domain Name System (DNS) allows a web browser to translate a domain to a website. You will need to tell DNS that your custom domain now should point to Smart URL. Follow the instructions given to update the DNS record:

  1. Login to the administrative console of your domain provider.
  2. Navigate to DNS settings.
  3. For your main domain, add the A record and point it to the IP address, ' 136.143.187.52 '.
  4. For your sub domain, add a CNAME record and point it to smarturl.cs.zohohost.com .
  5. Save the changes. Please note that it may take around 30 minutes for this to update to the DNS server.

Once the records have been updated to your DNS server :
  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Select Web under Marketing Channels.
  3. Navigate to Smart URL page and click Verify Now under the custom domain.
  4. Our technical team will verify your domain changes and update the status shortly after.
