Understanding Topics
In Zoho Marketing Automation, Topics is a hierarchical pattern that provides a framework between email senders and receivers/contacts. Senders can send content that receivers have subscribed to. This is a key step in staying relevant to the audience and sending only the right content to the receivers.
Once your contacts receive email campaigns from you, they can manage their preferences by clicking the Manage Preference option. Receivers/contacts can choose the topic of their interest and subscribe to them.
There are two types of hierarchy offered by Zoho Marketing Automation.
- Brand - Topic
- Brand - Product - Topic
When to choose Brand - Topic?
If your organization offers a single product and services relevant to that product, you can opt for the Brand - Topic hierarchy.
When to choose Brand - Product - Topic?
If you offer multiple products or services, and you want to send out emails specific to each product, then you should choose the Brand - Product - Topic type. In this case, you will have to first include different types of products you provide under your brand and then have topics, under each product. You can also add topics relevant to the entire brand or organization.
Note:- Topic Management is mandatory for sending email campaigns.
- Brand - Topic hierarchy is the default hierarchy.
- A contact can be subscribed to any number of topics.
- An email campaign can only be sent to a set of recipients of a single topic.
Add new product or topics to your organization
To configure topics:
- From the Navigation Toolbar to the left, click on Contacts and select Topics.
- A topic 'Marketing' will be present by default.
- Click Group it under Product if you want to change hierarchy to Brand - Product - Topic
- Enter the product name and a brief description about the product.
- Click Add Topic to add a new topic about your brand.
- Click Add New Product to add a new product in your brand.
- Enter the name and description for the topic or product you want to add and click Create.
- If you want to remove a product, you can click on the delete icon at far right of a product name provided there are more than one product. If there is only a single product present, you can use Remove Hierarchy option instead.
