Notebook allows you to organize your thoughts and ideas by associating them to different notebooks. Apart from this you can customize and personalize your notebooks to fit your note-taking style. Set your default notebooks, name or rename them, lock them, and do more with your notebooks in Notebook.
Default notebook
Notebook automatically creates a default notebook when you start using the app. You can rename the notebook to fit your note-taking needs. You can also create any number of notebooks and make any of them as a default notebook.
To rename your notebooks:
1. Long press/click on your notebook title
2. Type your new name for your notebook
You can also rename your notebooks in the notebook's info.
To make any of your notebook as default:
1. Open Notebook and go to Settings
2. Click Default Notebook
3. Choose from the list of notebooks to make it as a default notebook
Alternatively you can right click and set any notebook as default notebook from the list of options displayed in the desktop apps
Notebook covers
Notebook provides a default cover image for your notebook to make it more personalized. These covers are hand-drawn by our in house artists. You can look through the entire collection here. You can choose to have any of these images as your notebook covers or upload and customize any image of your choice as a notebook cover
To change your notebook cover:
Mobile apps:
1. Swipe left on any notebook and click Info
2. Choose from the list of hand-drawn covers for your notebook and click on it
3. It'll be automatically set as your notebook cover
Desktop apps:
1. Right click any notebook and click Change Cover
2. Choose from the list of hand-drawn covers and click it
To upload a custom cover:
Mobile apps:
1. Swipe left on any notebook and click Info
2. Click Upload
3. Click a photo or choose from your gallery and click it
4. Crop your cover for your notebook and click Done
Desktop apps:
1. Right click any notebook and click Change Cover
2. Click Custom Cover
3. Browse through your device and select an image for your notebook
4. Crop your cover for your notebook and click Done
Share your notebooks
Collaborate and get things done quickly by sharing your notebooks and note card groups with your friends and peers. You can share your notebooks in view and edit access. Edit permission allowed shared users to add new notes, edit existing notes, and delete them. You can also save notes from shared notebooks offline.
To share your notebooks:
1. Swipe left/ Right click any notebook and click Share
2. Click Add members
3. Enter the email address of users you want to share the notebook with or choose from your device's contacts.
4. Choose the access level between view and edit
5. Click Share
Lock your notebooks
Secure your notebooks from prying eyes with lock. You can lock your notebooks with a passcode, TouchID, or FaceID.
Note: Shared notes and notebooks will be unshared when you lock a notebook
To lock a notebook:
1. Swipe left/ Right click on any notebook and click Lock
2. Your notebook will be locked automatically if you've setup any of the options mentioned above.
3. If you've not setup any options you'll be asked to setup your passcode
4. Enter and re-enter your passcode and choose to have a hint for it
5. Your notebook will be locked
To unlock a notebook:
1. Click on the locked notebook
2. Use TouchID/FaceID/passcode to unlock your notebook
Remove lock for a notebook:
1. Swipe left/Right click on the locked notebook and click Info
2. Use TouchID/FaceID/passcode to unlock the notebook
3. Click Remove Lock
Delete your notebook
You can trash your notebook anytime in Notebook. All your deleted notebooks will be in the Trash.
Note: You cannot delete your trash your default notebook. Change your default notebook to any of the other notebooks and trash it.
Shared notes and notebooks will be unshared when you trash them.
To delete your notebook:
Mobile apps:
1. Swipe left on any notebook and click Info
2. Click Delete
Desktop apps:
1. Right click any notebook and choose Delete from the list of options displayed
To restore your notebook open Trash and click on the notebook and click Recover/Restore.
Note: You cannot restore individual notes from a trashed notebook. You can only restore the trashed notebook. The individual notes won't be listed in Trash.
