Scanners in Notebook

You can turn Notebook into a scanner to scan paper documents and business cards. All scanned documents are saved as File Cards in Notebook. Notebook smartly creates a Contact Card when you scan a business card.

Before you begin

Please be aware of these things before you begin you use Notebook as scanner.
  • Scanner is available only on Notebook for iOS and Android.
  • Notebook uses OCR to extract the text from scanned documents and business cards.
  • Notebook does not read/store any of such data.

How to scan documents?

Turn Notebook into a document scanner to scan all your important documents. To scan documents using Notebook, please follow these steps.
  1. Open Notebook app in your mobile device or tablet.
  2. Tap 'Photo Card' from the create note tool bar at the bottom.
  3. Swipe right on the camera screen and choose 'Documents'.
  4. Focus the document on the camera.
  5. The app automatically detects the document edges and captures it.
  6. Scan additional pages.
  7. Add a title to the document.
  8. Tap 'Save’.
You can export all scanned documents as pdf files. Notebook uses OCR to extract text content from your documents. You can edit the extracted text and search for documents using the same. You can also share the extracted text content to various other compatible apps installed on your device.

How to scan business cards?

Use Notebook to scan business cards and create Contact Cards. To scan business cards in Notebook, please follow these steps.
Open Notebook app in your mobile device or tablet.
  1. Tap 'Photo Card' from the create note tool bar at the bottom.
  2. Swipe right on the camera screen and choose ‘Business Card’.
  3. Choose the language of the business card from the top left of the camera screen.
  4. Focus the document on the camera.
  5. The app automatically detects the business card's edges and captures it.
  6. The app extracts the below details from the business card.
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Job
    • Company
    • Phone
    • Email
    • Website
    • Address
    • Twitter ID
  7. You can manually add the user’s photo or the app will automatically fetch the profile photo from the twitter account.
  8. Tap ‘Back Side’ on the top of the Contact Card view to scan the back side of the business card.
  9. If there are same information present in both sides of the business card, the app will allow you to choose from either side.
  10. Tap ’Save’ to create a Contact Card.
You can add all scanned contacts to your device’s address book and export it in vcf format to other apps.
