Tags are a flexible way to categorize your notes in Zoho Notebook. They act like keywords you assign to your notes so you can group related content, filter what matters, and retrieve information quickly, even when your Notebook library grows.
Organize by topic or theme
Multi-purpose categorization
Quick retrieval
Flexible organization
Open the note card you want to tag.
Type # before a word to auto-create or associate a tag.
Tap + or select from suggested tags to apply it.
Save your changes.
Alternative mobile method:
Tap # from the options toolbar.
Pick from existing tags, create new ones, or choose suggestions from Zia.
Open the note you want to tag and enter edit mode.
Click the three-dot menu on the note card.
Choose Info/Tags from the menu.
Add new tags, pick existing ones, or use suggested tags.

Zoho Notebook AI can also help generate relevant tags automatically for your notes. When you use Notebook AI features such as summarizing or processing note content, the AI analyzes the context of the note and suggests suitable tags.
These AI-generated tags help you categorize notes faster without manually thinking about keywords.
How it helps
Automatic organization: AI suggests tags based on the content of the note.
Faster tagging: Reduces the need to create tags for every note manually.
You can review the suggested tags and choose to keep, edit, or remove them based on your preference. AI-generated tags behave the same as regular tags and can be used across notebooks for filtering and searching.

View Tags
You can view all tags associated with a card from the card’s Info/Tags section. This helps you keep track of how your notes are categorized at a glance.
Remove Tags
Open the card and go to Info/Tags.
Click the tag you want to remove.
Choose Delete or deselect it.
Once you’ve tagged notes:
Use the search bar in Notebook to type a tag name.
Or browse the Tags view to select a tag and see all connected notes.
This way, you can jump straight to what you need without hunting manually.
1. Do tags work across all notebooks?
Yes. Tags are global within your Notebook account. A tag applied to notes in different notebooks can be used to view all related notes together.
You can add up to 100 tags per note card.
Yes. While editing a note, you can type # followed by a word to create or apply a tag instantly.
Currently, tags cannot be renamed directly. You can create a new tag and remove the old one from notes if needed.
