Automatic Resource Cleanup in Notebook Application
Why This Feature Matters to You
Notebook allows you to access your content even when you are offline. To make this possible, the app stores resources such as images, audio files, videos, and attachments directly on your device.
Over time, these offline resources can build up and occupy a large amount of storage space. This may lead to:
- Increased storage usage on the device
- Slower app performance
- Reduced available space for other apps and files
- Unnecessary retention of old or unused offline resources
To improve device performance and storage management, Notebook includes an automatic cleanup mechanism for offline resources.
What Gets Cleaned Up?
The cleanup process targets locally stored files that you have not accessed in a while. This includes:
- Images
- Audio recordings
- Videos
- File attachments
Important: Only the local copies stored on your device are removed. Your notes and content remain safely saved in your Zoho Notebook account and can be re-downloaded anytime you need them.How Does the Cleanup Work?
Think of it like an automatic schedule. Here is what happens behind the scenes:
- It runs quietly in the background
The cleanup happens automatically. You do not need to tap anything or go into any settings. It runs while the app is open, without interrupting what you are doing. - It follows a 30-day rule
Any locally stored file (image, audio, video, or attachment) that you have not opened or used in the last 30 days is considered stale and gets cleared from your device. - It also watches your storage space
If your locally stored Notebook files cross a certain size limit (for example, 1 GB), the cleanup kicks in right away, even if it has not been 30 days yet. This acts as a safety net to prevent your storage from getting too full. - It never misses a beat
If your phone or tablet was switched off, or the app was not opened on the day cleanup was scheduled, do not worry. The next time you open Zoho Notebook, it will automatically run the cleanup then, so nothing is ever skipped.
