Set Up Web Tabs in Zoho One | Embed Third-Party Apps for a Unified Workspace

Embedding Third-Party Apps Using Web Tabs in Zoho One

Prerequisites

  1. Organization Owner
  2. Organization Admin

Web Tabs - What They Are

Zoho One includes over 45+ integrated Zoho applications, each designed to help manage your businesses effectively. It also offers flexibility to integrate with third-party apps, and so you can use those apps directly from Zoho One besides Zoho's native solutions. Web Tabs allow you to bring these external apps into Zoho One's interface for a seamless and centralized experience. Web Tabs let you embed third-party applications right inside the Zoho One interface instead of having to open them in a new, different browser tab. This keeps all your tools accessible from a single window and reduces switching.

In short, Web Tabs support:
  1. Unified Interface – Access both Zoho and third-party apps from a single screen without having to switch between different tabs, thereby reducing the mess of managing multiple tabs and easing your experience.
  2. Admin Control – Determine how Zoho One should open the app for users: within a Web Tab (if supported) or in a separate browser tab.

Set up a Web Tab for Third-Party Apps

  1. While adding an app:
    1. Sign in to Zoho One. Click  in the top-right corner.
    2. Navigate to ApplicationsAdd ApplicationAdd Web Tabs.
    3. Fill in the details required to create the app. Under SSO Mode, select the Sign-In Type to be Bookmark.
    4. Enter the complete app URL (including http:// or https://).
    5. Choose the display behavior:
      1. Open in Web Tab - For embedded viewing (if supported)
      2. Open in New Tab - For viewing in a separate tab (when embedding is not supported).

Notes
Some third-party apps have security policies that block them from being embedded. In such cases, select Open in New Tab to proceed. Save the configuration and click Create.
  1. While managing a bookmark app:
    1. Sign in to Zoho One. Click  in the top-right corner.
    2. Go to the Applications tab, then click the app that you want to set up a web tab for.
    3. From the Single Sign-on sub-menu, choose the display behaviour: Open in New Tab or Open in Web Tab. If an error occurs when you set it to Open in Web Tab, the app doesn't allow its URL to be embedded in an iframe. In such cases, you should go with Open in New Tab instead.
    4. Click Save.

Troubleshoot Load-time Embedding Failure

Some third-party applications may have restrictive embedding policies, which are not controlled or managed by Zoho. Therefore, when you attempt opening one such app in Zoho One, the app fails to load in a web tab inside Zoho One.
  1. Verify if the app supports embedding. Some apps provide a separate embed URL that must be used instead of the plain login or launch URL.
  2. Open the app in a new tab for temporary access.
  3. Reconfigure the Web Tab settings of the app by:
    1. Updating the URL if there's an alternative URL that allows embedding of the same app (or)
    2. Permanently setting the display behavior to Open in New Tab.
