Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I view Heatmaps for webpages behind a login page?
Yes. Using the Google Chrome extension for Zoho PageSense, you can create and view Heatmaps for webpages that are accessible only after user login or authentication. This is useful for analyzing interaction patterns on dashboards, account pages, checkout flows, internal portals, or application pages that are not publicly accessible. The extension also allows you to preview Heatmap overlays directly on the live page layout.

2. Why am I unable to view Heatmaps on mobile and tablet devices using the Chrome extension?
This issue usually occurs when the website blocks iframe rendering through X-Frame headers. Since the PageSense Chrome extension relies on iframe rendering to display Heatmap overlays on mobile and tablet previews, the Heatmap visualization may fail to load.
In such cases, you can install an Ignore X-Frame Headers browser extension and reload the page. This allows the Heatmap report to render correctly within the extension preview window.

3. Why is my Heatmap getting auto-paused?
A Heatmap experiment may automatically pause when the configured visitor limit for the experiment is reached or when your available subscription visitor credits are exhausted.Once paused, the experiment stops collecting new visitor interaction data until additional visitor credits are available or the experiment limits are updated. This helps prevent data collection beyond the allocated subscription quota.

4. Is the Heatmap feature available in all PageSense plans?
Yes. The Heatmap feature is available across all Zoho PageSense plans. You can use Heatmaps to analyze visitor interaction patterns such as clicks, scrolling behavior, and engagement areas on your webpages, regardless of the subscription plan you are using.

5. What types of Heatmaps does PageSense provide?
Zoho PageSense provides multiple Heatmap visualizations to help analyze visitor interaction patterns:
  • Click Heatmaps — Show where visitors click most frequently on the webpage
  • Scroll Maps — Display how far visitors scroll down the page
  • Attention Maps — Highlight sections where visitors spend the most attention and engagement time
These reports help identify highly engaging areas as well as sections that visitors tend to ignore.

6. How long does it take for Heatmap data to appear?
Heatmap data collection begins immediately after the experiment is launched and visitors start interacting with the tracked page.
Depending on website traffic volume, initial data may begin appearing within a few minutes. However, meaningful analysis generally requires sufficient visitor activity over time.

7. Can I track Heatmaps only for specific webpages?
Yes. You can configure URL targeting conditions to track Heatmaps only for selected webpages, landing pages, product pages, campaign pages, or specific URL patterns.PageSense supports multiple URL match types to help precisely define which pages should collect Heatmap data.

8. Does PageSense support Heatmaps for dynamic websites or single-page applications (SPAs)?
Yes. Zoho PageSense supports Heatmap tracking for dynamic websites and single-page applications (SPAs).
For accurate tracking, ensure the PageSense tracking script is properly implemented and page transitions are correctly detected within the application.

9. Can I segment Heatmap data by audience or device type?
Yes. Heatmap reports can be segmented using filters such as device type, visitor segments, or audience conditions. This helps compare interaction behavior between desktop and mobile visitors or analyze engagement patterns for specific visitor groups.

10. How do I interpret Heatmap colors?
Heatmap colors visually represent the intensity of visitor interactions on the webpage.
Typically:
  • Warmer colors indicate higher interaction and engagement
  • Cooler colors indicate lower interaction levels
This helps quickly identify high-performing sections, ignored elements, and areas that may require optimization.

11. Are Heatmaps responsive across different screen sizes?
Yes. Zoho PageSense allows you to analyze Heatmaps separately for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
This helps you understand how visitor behavior differs across screen sizes and optimize responsive webpage layouts accordingly.

12. Can I export Heatmap reports?
Yes. Heatmap reports can be exported and shared for reporting, analysis, presentations, or collaboration with teams.
Exporting reports helps preserve historical interaction insights for future reference.

13. Is there a limit on the number of Heatmaps I can create?
No. Zoho PageSense does not impose any restriction on the number of Heatmap experiments you can create.
You can configure multiple Heatmap experiments across different webpages, landing pages, campaigns, or website sections based on your optimization and analysis requirements.

14. How long is Heatmap data stored?
Heatmap data retention depends on your Zoho PageSense subscription plan and configured data retention settings. The available retention period may vary based on the plan’s storage and reporting limits.
