Content and Privacy Settings in Zoho PageSense

Content and Privacy Settings

The Content and Privacy section in Zoho PageSense Settings allows you to manage how visitor data is collected, stored, and protected on your website. These settings help ensure that your tracking activities remain transparent to visitors while also complying with privacy and regulatory requirements.

Using these options, you can inform visitors about cookie usage, enable healthcare data protection standards, and exclude internal traffic from being tracked in your reports.
NotesNote: The Settings icon is located in the top-right corner of your PageSense interface. From there, navigate to Project Settings → Content and Privacy to configure these options.

The Content and Privacy section includes the following configurations:

  • Cookie Policy Banner
  • HIPAA Compliance
  • IP Filter

PageSense uses cookies to track visitor behavior, measure engagement, and run experiments on your website. To maintain transparency and comply with privacy regulations, it is recommended to inform visitors that your website uses cookies.

The Cookie Policy Banner allows you to display a notification on your website explaining your cookie usage and privacy policy.

You can choose how visitors are notified about cookies on your website using the following options:

Do not notify visitors
  1. Selecting this option disables the cookie notification banner. Visitors will not see any message informing them about cookie usage.
  2. This option may be suitable for internal environments or websites where cookie consent is handled separately outside of PageSense.

Notify visitors but don't allow to opt out
  1. When this option is enabled, visitors will see a notification informing them that cookies are used on the website. However, visitors will not have the option to decline or opt out of cookie tracking.
  2. This approach is typically used when websites want to inform users about cookie usage but do not require explicit consent controls.

Notify visitors and allow to opt out
  1. This option displays a cookie consent banner and also allows visitors to accept or decline cookie tracking.
  2. Providing this option helps websites comply with stricter privacy regulations by giving visitors more control over how their data is collected.

Using a cookie policy banner helps you:
  • Inform visitors that cookies are used on your website
  • Maintain transparency about data collection practices
  • Align with privacy regulations and compliance standards
  • Build trust by giving users control over their tracking preferences

HIPAA Compliance

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance settings in PageSense help organizations securely manage sensitive healthcare-related information collected through their website.

Organizations such as healthcare providers, patient portals, or medical platforms may collect personal healthcare information through forms or popup fields on their websites. Enabling HIPAA compliance ensures that such data is handled according to strict security and privacy regulations.

Enable HIPAA Compliance Support
  1. When this option is enabled, PageSense ensures that any personal healthcare information entered by visitors, especially through popup forms or input fields is stored and handled securely in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  2. This helps organizations safely collect and process healthcare-related information while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Restrict Export of Personal Data
  1. This option provides an additional layer of security by preventing the export of personal data collected from visitors.

  1. When this toggle is enabled, users will not be able to export sensitive personal information from PageSense reports or experiment data. This helps reduce the risk of unauthorized access or accidental sharing of sensitive healthcare data.
  2. Enabling these HIPAA-related controls ensures that organizations maintain strict privacy protection standards while still benefiting from PageSense insights and experimentation capabilities.

IP Filter

The IP Filter feature allows you to exclude visits from specific IP addresses so that they are not tracked in your PageSense experiments or analytics reports.

This is particularly useful for filtering out internal traffic, such as visits from employees, developers, testers, or office networks. Internal visits can artificially inflate visitor numbers and affect experiment results if they are recorded as normal user behavior.
By adding IP addresses to the filter list, PageSense will automatically ignore traffic from those sources when collecting data.

Adding an IP Filter

When configuring an IP filter, you can define the following fields:

Name
A label used to identify the filter. For example, you might name filters such as Office, Home, or Testing Network to easily recognize the source being excluded.

Condition

This determines how the IP address should be matched. PageSense provides three filtering conditions:

  • Is – Excludes a single specific IP address.
  • Range – Excludes a range of IP addresses between a defined From and To value.
  • Regex – Uses a regular expression to exclude IP addresses that match a specific pattern.

IP Address / Range
Depending on the selected condition, you can enter:
  • A single IP address
  • A starting and ending IP address for a range
  • A pattern for regex-based filtering

Once the filters are configured, click Save to apply them.

After saving, PageSense will ignore visits from those IP addresses across all experiments and analytics tracking within the project.

Why IP Filtering is Important

Using IP filters helps ensure that:
  • Internal testing does not affect experiment results
  • Analytics data reflects real visitor behavior
  • Experiment conversion rates remain accurate
  • Reports remain clean and reliable
Filtering internal traffic is a recommended best practice when running experiments or analyzing visitor behavior using PageSense.
