Run better A/B tests and create better user experiences on your website using advanced URL targeting. This feature can be used to target and show your variations to a specific or group of pages on your site with different URL match types. Also, you can exclude a segment of web pages for which you don't want to run your A/B experiment. For example, say you want to run a promotional offer on a specific product page, such as "Kids Wear", on your ecommerce site. Next, you can choose 'Exact URL' as the match type to show the variation page, with an attractive promotional banner targeted to the audience on this set of pages.
To create an A/B test using the advanced URL targeting options:
1. Click A/B Test on the left pane, then click the New A/B Test button.
2. Enter a descriptive name for your A/B test in the text box and enable the Advanced button.
You can also enable the Advanced mode in the visual editor by clicking the URL Targeting button in the top-left corner.
For example, you are testing a promotional banner on the home page of your ecommerce site and you want to exclude showing this variation to visitors coming from specific social media traffic sources, who seek a higher discount on sale items compared to the other sources. Based on our example, we will choose the URL pattern and exclude URL conditions for the experiment as shown in the image below.
Note: The URL entered in the Preview URL field will be used as a sample display. However, the settings or changes you make for this experiment will be applicable to all the pages that are part of the experiment. You can change the preview URL to any of the URLs that are included in your experiment at any time.
5. Finally, click Create to configure the remaining settings in your A/B experiment.
