Setting up your user journey

Setting up your user journey

User Journey in Zoho PageSense helps you understand how visitors navigate through your website after reaching a specific page. Select a starting page and analyze the pages visitors navigate to next, the paths they follow, and where they drop off.
Unlike Funnel Analysis, where you define a specific sequence of steps, User Journey helps you discover the paths visitors actually take. This makes it useful for identifying unexpected navigation patterns and understanding visitor behavior.

Why use User Journey?

User Journey helps you:
  • Understand where visitors go after visiting an important page.
  • Identify the most common navigation paths on your website.
  • Discover unexpected paths visitors take.
  • Identify pages where visitors drop off.
  • Analyze visitor behavior for specific audience segments.
  • Find navigation paths that may require further optimization.
  • Use discovered paths as a starting point for Funnel Analysis or other PageSense reports.

User Journey vs. Funnel Analysis

Both User Journey and Funnel Analysis help you understand visitor behavior, but they answer different questions.

Funnel Analysis
User Journey
Measures a predefined journey.
Discovers the journey visitors actually take.
You define the sequence of steps.
PageSense identifies the next pages visited.
Best for known conversion paths.
Best for exploratory analysis.
Helps identify where visitors drop off in a planned flow.
Helps identify where visitors go and how they navigate.
Example: Product → Cart → Checkout → Purchase.
Example: Product → Pricing, Signup, Features, Demo, or other pages.

Example: If you know that your ideal journey is Product → Pricing → Signup, use Funnel Analysis to measure that journey. If you want to first understand whether visitors actually follow this path or take a different route, use User Journey.
