Create a new session recording in Zoho PageSense | Help Guide

Create your first session recordings

In PageSense, you can quickly create a session recording for an entire business domain, or create a single page or a set of pages to get a complete picture of your users’ journeys throughout your website, including clicks, scrolls, mouse movements, and more. The feature enables you to record a video of your visitor's behavior coming to your website, and helps you gain firsthand experience of what, how and where your visitors click as soon as they land on the page. As we use cookies to track your visitor's session, we recommend that you notify users that their behavior is being tracked via website cookies by configuring your Project Settings.

To create a new session recording:
1. Click Session Recording on the left pane, then click the New Session Recording button.

 2. Add a descriptive name for your session recording in the Name field, then click Create.

IdeaFor example, let us say you want to see how your users navigate through different pages of your ecommerce site after landing on the website's home page. So, we will call this 'Zylker Homepage'.

3. Under the CONFIGURATION tab, choose your preferred URL match type:

4. Choose the visitor limit to be set as an end condition for running your session recording.

By default, the Visitors option is set to 2000; however, you can set the limit to a maximum of All recordings.

5.

Click Next to select the type of audience you want to run the session recording under the AUDIENCE tab.
By default, Zoho PageSense will set the target audience to All Visitors. However, you can choose from the preset audience group or create a new segment by clicking +Custom Audience. Learn how to set custom dimensions in audience segments.

6.

Click Next to navigate to the PRIVACY tab, then enter the selector IDs of the elements you wish to mask in recordings within the Elements to Mask text box. You can add multiple sector IDs for elements across the page.

You can also click the Select elements directly from the web page option to choose elements directly from the web page. Alternatively, you can also mask elements using custom attribute zps-mask to hide any element you want.

Furthermore, you can use the
Advanced options to enable the following options:
  • Mask all Input Elements, such as <input>, <button>, <select>, <label>, and <textarea> on your page.

  • Hide URL Query-Parameters displayed in all URLs of your recordings.

Learn what is masking elements in session recording and how it will be useful for you.

Notes
Note:
  • The elements you choose to mask on your web page will not be recorded or stored in your PageSense session recordings.

  • By default, all the inputs that your visitors enter on your web page will be replaced by asterisks (*).

  • Furthermore, Zoho PageSense uses cookie-based tracking setup to ensure that you have your users' proper consent before tracking their personal information on your website.

7. Click Activate to launch the session recordings to your chosen audience segments on your website.

PageSense will now begin to record your visitors interaction and behavior on the specified web page
, and will show the relevant metrics under the RECORDINGS tab. However, if you wish to make changes to your session, click the Pause button at the top-right corner, then click Relaunch to run the experiment again.
