Understand the session recording reports

The recordings page appears after you have launched your experiment. It lists down visitor specific recordings against the given metrics:

  1. Visitor: A random name is assigned to the unique visitor who is recorded. The IPs are anonymized. A visitor is counted once if they spend two hours or less on your website. After two hours, they will be counted as a new visitor.
  1. Duration: The time spent by a visitor on your website.
  1. Goals: The number of goals the visitor has successfully completed in the given time.
  1. Device: The device used by the visitor to access your website.
  1. OS: The operating system used by the visitor.
  1. Browser: The browser used by the visitor to access your website.
  1. Country: The country from which the visitor has accessed your website.
  1. Date Created: The date on which the visitor accessed your website.
  1. Flag Recording: This helps flag and segregate important recordings of your website.

  2. Share: Helps share the experiment recordings.

When you click on a recording, you'll be taken to the window shown below:

On the top bar, you'll see the number of web pages the visitor has navigated through and the URL of the web page the visitor was browsing.

On clicking the downward arrow at the end, you can see the URL of all the web pages in the particular order in which the visitor navigated through them. Clicking on any one of these URLs will take you to the section in the recording when the visitor reaches that web page.

Below this, you can view the recording of the visitor's interaction with your website.

Using the bar at the bottom, you can pause and play the recording, go to the previous or the next recording, and adjust the seek to skip to certain sections of the recording.

The goal icon appears on the timestamps when the visitor accomplishes a goal. You can also choose to skip pauses, adjust the speed of the playback, and hide the right tab so that you can see the recording in full screen.

Session details

On the right tab, you'll find the Session Details section. Here, the date, the time, and the city from which the visitor accessed the website will be available.

Under this section, you can see the visitor's user agent details, such as the device, OS, browser, and resolution of the visitor's setup. You can also see the source through which the visitor reached that web page.

Tags: You will be able to see the automatically assigned tags here, or you can add your own tags by keying in the value. If a tag with the same name is already added to a different recording in the project, it will show up once you start typing a tag name. You can pick from this list of just enter a new tag name.

Events: Available under the Session Details section, under the Events section, you'll get a list of all key events the visitor has traversed while browsing your website. This list will contain events like click on buttons, links, goals accomplished, and navigation to a different web page.
