What is the Present by Default feature in Zoho People?
Present by Default in Zoho People is an option that enables organizations to mark all or specific employees as 'Present' automatically. The users will no longer be required to check in every day to mark their attendance. This option will be useful to employees who are not able to mark attendance, such as on-site employees, or senior management who do not require check-in and check-out every day.

Configuring Present by Default
This feature allows you to automatically mark employees as present for a specified period. You can create present by default group, select specific users, and define a start and end date to apply automatic attendance within the chosen timeframe.
- To configure, navigate to Settings > Attendance > Automation > Present by Default
- Click Add Present by Default Group
- Enter a name for the group.
- Specify the effective period by selecting the date range.

- Set the Applicability:
- All users: All users in the organization will be automatically marked as present on their workdays.
- Specific users: Only users who meet the specified applicability criteria will be automatically marked as present on their workdays.
- Enter the reason.
- Click Save.
What happens when a user is added to a Present by Default group?
- The user does not need to check in or check out to mark their attendance.
- On the applicable days, they will be marked as 'Present' at 12 AM automatically based on their time zone for the duration of their shift. If the user is not tagged to a location, they will be marked based on the organization's time zone.
- 'Absent' attendance status and absent schedule will not apply to the user.
- Their absence will be recorded only when they apply for leave.
- When leave is applied for a full day, or for any day marked as a weekend or a holiday, the system automatically skips marking attendance.
Important Notes:
- You can create multiple groups to be marked present by default for different users and timelines.
- You can edit an existing group to add users or modify effective dates.
- Present by default can also be used for past dates.
- Do not select an end date when configuring effective period to apply the option indefinitely.
- If the present by default configuration is deleted, attendance entries for past days will not be removed.
- Overtime and regularized entries will also be considered for attendance under Present by Default.
