Localization

What is the Localization feature in Zoho People?

The localization feature allows you to tailor the translation of terms within the system to meet the needs of users. This applies to both predefined system terms and any custom terms you’ve added. To use this feature, you can add a new language to the system and then edit the terminology to reflect the desired translations or adaptations. Localization ensures that your application is user-friendly and culturally appropriate by enabling translated content across multiple areas, including:
  1. Form Names
  2. Form Fields
  3. Services Names
  4. Views Names
  5. Section Names
This functionality is essential for creating a seamless user experience accessible to a broader audience.

Only the Administrator will be able to use this feature.

Adding a language and customizing terms

  1. Begin by navigating to Operations > Data Administration > Localization
  2. Click Add Language

  3. Next, use the drop-down to select a language, and click Save to proceed.

  4. You will see the language is now added to the list. From here, you can proceed with customizing the terms by clicking on the language you have just added. Additional actions include Reset, Delete, and Enable/Disable. 
    Note: Only languages supported by Zoho People can be added here. Learn more about supported languages.
  5. Now proceed by selecting the language to perform localization (customizing terms).
  6. The localization page will now be open, here you can see the default system-translated text. Use the text boxes to enter new terms as required. Use the tabs on the left pane to navigate.


  7. Click Save and close the Localization page.
  8. Use the switch to Enable the changes.



  9. To see the changes in your live account, simply navigate to the Personal Preferences page and select the localized language here.

  10. Following the reload, you can use Zoho People in the selected language along with the localized language changes (customized terms).
Notes
If you reset Localization for a language, all translated terms will be reset, including any system terms that were altered and any terms provided by the user.
