Layout
Zoho Projects enables user layout customization. A user layout helps create the components for user invitation form. It records details of a user in default and custom fields. Users with appropriate permissions can add or edit custom fields to the default user layout.
The User layout is categorized as: Portal User Layout and Client user Layout. The layout types help record data unique to the user types. A portal user layout includes unique fields like Reporting to, and Role unlike client users layout fields which record client address and billing details. To align the layouts to projects and portals, managers and admins can add custom fields to Portal and Client user layout as per their project requirement.
Availability: Enterprise plan and above.View User Layouts
- Navigate to Set Up > Customization > Layouts > Users
- Click on the layout you want to view.
Edit User Layouts
To edit or customise a user layout, Manage permission is required for the user. This permission can be enabled on
Set up > Profiles and Roles > Profiles > User Profiles > Settings > User Access Control.
To edit User Layout
- Navigate to Set Up > Customization > Layouts > User.
- Click on the layout you want to edit.
- Edit or add the details and click Enter or Return.
The changes will be updated automatically.
- Creating new user layouts is not supported.
- The default Portal and Client user layout cannot be deleted.
- The user layout cannot be associated to projects as the default layout applies across projects.
Section
A set of sections form a layout. Similar attributes are placed inside a section. Every layout will have a default section. Users with authorized permissions can also create new section and use it in the layout.
Add section
- Navigate to Set Up > Customization > Layouts > User.
- Open the layout, drag and drop a field on a space outside of existing sections to create a new section.
- Enter a name for the new section and add fields to it as per your requirement.
- Click Update.
Edit Section
- Navigate to Set Up > Customization > Layouts > User.
- Select the layout you wish to edit.
- Click on the section you want to edit and click Enter or Return to save the changes.
Delete section
To delete a section, you must delete all the fields in the section first.
- Navigate to Set Up > Customization > Layouts > User.
- Select the layout you wish to edit.
- Go to the section and remove all the fields in the section you want to delete.
- Hover over the section you want to delete and click

Field
Sections in a layout are made of fields. These fields carry data required to be stored for a specific user.
In Zoho Projects, users can add available or default fields to a layout and also add new or custom fields to the User Layout.
Manage Fields
- Drag and drop fields from the Available or New Fields tab to add default and custom fields to the layout.
- Add Fields details under Properties tab form on the right.
- Adjust user access permissions for individual fields from the field's Permissions tab on the right.
- Drag and drop fields to rearrange their placement across sections.
