Custom Domain Mapping

If you have purchased a domain for your business and you run the company's portal on Zoho Projects, this domain mapping feature will come in handy. All the users in your company will be able to access the portal from your domain name itself. So, your company portal will be hence read as https://www.yourcompanyname.com/portal/xyz or https://test.yourcompanyname.com/portal/xyz instead of the default https://projects.zoho.com/portal/xyz format.

Feature availability : User-based Enterprise plan and Zoho One ( Not available when Zoho Projects is accessed from CRM Plus.)

Create Custom Domain

  1. Click  in the upper-right corner of the top navigation bar.
  2. Navigate to Portal Configuration > Configuration > Custom Domain tab.

  3. In the Custom Domain Name section, enter the new domain name. Ex: https://www.mycompany.com/ or https://projects.mycompany.com/
  4. Click Verify Domain.

Map Custom Domain

Right after verifying your domain, two CNAME values will be displayed. Ensure that you have set both the CNAME values in your DNS settings before you map your new domain to the Zoho Projects portal.

  1. Log in to your domain provider's admin console.
  2. Go to the DNS settings / Manage DNS section.
  3. If you aren't using the domain that you have purchased as the custom domain (www.yourcompanyname.com), then create a subdomain as per your business requirement.
  4. Create a record of type CNAME, enter a host alias (i.e www/subdomain)and point it to the destination projects.cs.zohohost.com. If you are managing your project portal from projects.zoho.eu, map the CNAME entry to the destination projects.cs.zohohost.eu.

  5. Create a dummy CNAME record, enter the second CNAME value displayed and point it to the corresponding destination.
  6. Save the changes.
It may take upto 24 hours to verify the CNAME mapping.

  7. In Zoho Projects' Custom Domain Name settings, Click Map Domain and proceed to Confirm Mapping.
    • If you have already set up the SSL certificate, your domain will be mapped successfully to your portal after confirmation. Otherwise, you will need to purchase the SSL certificate.
  8. If you click Confirm Mapping without setting up the SSL certificate, the domain will be mapped to your portal, however, the mapped domain name will be disabled.
    • Zoho Projects will automatically purchase the SSL certificate. It may take up to 7 days to complete the purchase.
    • Once the process is complete, you will be notified via email. You can then enable your domain.

  1. SSL certificate is mandatory since custom domains work via the HTTPS protocol.
  2. If you remove the CNAME record from your DNS settings, the custom domain will no longer work.

Enable or Disable Custom Domain
