Set Task Dependency

You can set task dependencies from the List, Gantt, and Kanban views. This includes adding predecessors and successors in the List view, connecting tasks in the Gantt view, and setting dependencies in the task details page.

Set Task Dependency from List view

You can now view the predecessor and successor tasks from any of the task views. The fields can be edited to set or update dependencies.
  1. Navigate to a project from the Recent Projects section, or select a project from the Projects tab.
  2. Click Tasks in the top navigation panel and open the List view.
  3. Click the  icon.
  4. Hover over Predecessors or Successors and click +Add.
  5. Scroll over to the Predecessors or Successors column and click on the respective field.
  6. Search for the task or enter the Task ID and then click Enter or Return.
    To set dependency with a task from another project, search for or enter the corresponding task ID.

  1. Closed and deleted tasks, as well as tasks from archived projects, cannot be set as dependent tasks.
  2. You can only set or update  upto 5 dependencies from the List view. However, you can open the task details page to add more dependencies.

Set Task Dependency from Gantt View

  1. Navigate to a project from the Recent Projects section, or select a project from the Projects tab.
  2. Click Tasks in the top navigation panel and open the Gantt view.
  3. Navigate to the Gantt chart and add dependencies to the task or subtask by drawing a connection between the ends of two task or subtask bars.

Set Task Dependency Across Projects from Gantt View

  1. Navigate to a project from the Recent Projects section, or select a project from the Projects tab.
  2. Click Tasks in the top navigation panel and open the Gantt view.
  3. Navigate to the Gantt chart and click on a Gantt bar.
  4. Select either the Predecessor or Successor column.
  5. Select the project and then search for the task or enter the task ID to search.
  6. Click the task to set the predecessor.

Set Task Dependency from Task Details Page

  1. Navigate to a project from the Recent Projects section, or select a project from the Projects tab.
  2. Click Tasks in the top navigation panel.
  3. Click on a task to open the details page.
  4. Scroll down to the Dependency section.
  5. Click Add Predecessor or Add Successor, search for or enter task name and click enter/return. The dependency will be set automatically.

Set Task Dependency Across Projects from Task Details Page

  1. Navigate to a project from the Recent Projects section, or select a project from the Projects tab.
  2. Click Tasks in the top navigation panel.
  3. Click on a task to open the details page.
  4. Scroll down to the Dependency section.
  5. Click Add Predecessor or Add Successor.
  6. Select a project and then search for the task.
  7. Select the task. The dependency will be set automatically.
