Advanced Search (New UI)

Advanced Search (New UI)

Zoho Recruit's Advanced Search helps you locate specific information or records without having to go through your entire database. Furthermore, you can use Radius Search and additional filter criteria for improved accuracy. Filter records based on keywords, field values, proximity and much more.

To perform an advanced search, simply click the Search (🔎) icon and select Advanced Search.

For the Candidates module, the search pop-up keyword search (with boolean operators), radius search for filtering candidates by proximity, provision to add filter criteria and an option to only show newly added and unassociated candidates.

For all other modules, only the keyword and search criteria sections are shown.

Components

Each component lets you improve the accuracy of your search. This section will look at each component in detail and help you understand how Advanced Search sifts through your database and finds what you're looking for.
The keyword search component allows you to restrict or expand your search by specifying which keywords must be included in your search and which ones must be excluded. This is accomplished using Boolean Search Operators (such as AND, OR, and NOT) tell the search engine to exclude or find words in a specific order.

If you aren't adept at using boolean operators, you can use the Basic sub-tab to simplify your search. You specify which keywords are required, optional and which ones must be excluded. When you go back to the Advanced sub-tab, the search engine then builds a boolean search string for you. We sort your keywords into three categories,
  1. Required - Keywords entered here are mandatory, i.e., if you enter three keywords then records that contain all of them will be displayed in the search results . This is similar to the AND operator in a Boolean Search.
  2. Optional - Keywords entered here are optional, i.e., if you enter three keywords then records that contain at least one of them will be displayed in the search results . This is similar to the OR operator in a Boolean Search.
  3. Exclude - If you enter a keyword then records that contain it will be ignored in the search results, i.e., only records that do not have the keyword will be shown. This is similar to the NOT operator in a Boolean Search.
Idea
Take the following search query for example:

data AND (science OR analysis) AND hardware NOT team lead
This is how Zoho Recruit will prioritize your search terms.

Keyword
Boolean Operator
Action

Data, hardware

AND

Only candidates who have both data and hardware mentioned in their record will be shown in the results

science, analysis

OR

Candidates who have at least one from science or analyst mentioned in their record will be shown in the results

team lead

NOT

Candidates who do not have the team lead skill/tag mentioned in their record will be shown in the results.

While the above table shows us how Zoho Recruit understands you query, here's a how the search results will look like:

Candidates with the data science, data management and hardware skills, who are not a team lead will listed in the search results . In this case, only Ashish Mehta seems to fit your requirements.

The radius search component lets you filter candidate records based on their location, i.e., searches for candidates within a specific distance of a zip/postal code. For example, you can search for candidates who are located within 5 miles of zip code Texarkana-75501.

Search Criteria

This section lets you filter the search results further based on the value of a selected field. You can add up to ten search criteria at once and even configure what the search criteria pattern should be (using boolean operators).
