Recruiter Assessments in Zoho Recruit are designed for internal evaluation, helping recruiters score and screen candidates based on job-relevant criteria before interviews even begin. This standardizes the evaluation process, allowing teams to compare applicants objectively and make informed hiring decisions faster.
These assessments are especially helpful when recruiters need to align candidate qualifications with job requirements beyond what’s listed in a resume. By using structured, competency-based questions, recruiters can validate candidate profiles in a scalable and consistent manner.

Prerequisites
Recruiter Assessments are typically used after the pre-screening stage and before scheduling interviews. They’re ideal when:
- You want to benchmark multiple applicants against the same skill criteria.
- You need to capture internal notes and observations during sourcing.
- You’re working with high-volume applications and need to narrow down the shortlist before interview rounds.
These assessments use paragraph-type questions only, giving recruiters space to enter detailed evaluations, observations, and score-free commentary on the candidate. Typical question themes include:
- Role-based qualifications
- Communication and resume clarity
- Notice period or location fit
- Cultural or organizational alignment
Example Question: Does the candidate’s background align with the key skills needed for this role?
This makes them especially useful in agency settings or high-volume hiring environments where recruiters need to review dozens of applications daily.
How to create a recruiter assessment
- Go to the Assessments module and click the
icon.

- In the Create Assessment pop-up, select Recruiter Assessment.

- Under Assessment Information, fill in:

- Assessment Name (Mandatory)
- Assessment Type (e.g., General, Pre-screening)
- Description (Optional)Hover over a question to access the Mark as Mandatory and Delete options.
- Click Save.
Reviewing Candidates
- Go to the Candidate record and click ️the Rating icon.
- In the Submit Review pop-up:
- Choose whether to add just a rating (General Review) or use an assessment for structured feedback (Screening Review).

- Fill in the required fields and submit the review.

Note: Only Recruiter Assessments can be used to rate candidates as shown above.Where to view submitted reviews
Once submitted, the recruiter’s review—along with the completed assessment (if any)—can be viewed in two places:
- Under the Ratings & Reviews section in the candidate’s detail page.
- In the Reviews sub-module, which aggregates all reviews across modules.
