Track how visitors interact with your career site by connecting it to Google Tag Manager (GTM). Once connected, you can choose which career site events to push to GTM and see exactly what data each event sends.
This guide walks you through connecting your GTM container, enabling events, and reviewing the data associated with each event — all from within Zoho Recruit.
Before you Begin
Make sure you have the following ready before starting the setup:
- Create a Google Analytics account and configure a Google Analytics Property.
- Create an account at tagmanager.google.com or you can use your existing account. A new container is created by default when you create an account and copy its Container ID. It should follow the format GTM-XXXXXXX.
Once you have your Container ID, you're ready to connect it to your career site.
Step 1: Go to Tracking & Analytics
- Navigate to Setup > Career Website > Career Site.
- Go to Advanced Settings > Tracking & Analytics.

Step 2: Enable Google Tag Manager
- Turn on the Google Tag Manager toggle.

- Under GTM Container ID, paste the Container ID you copied from your Google Tag Manager account.

Step 3: Choose the Events you want to Track
Under Configure Events, select the career site events whose data you want to push to Google Tag Manager. You can choose from four events:

Event | Triggered When | Event Name |
Job Listing | The job listing page is viewed | zr_job_list_view |
Job Detail | The job details page is viewed | zr_job_detail_view |
Job Application Initiated | The Apply button is clicked | zr_job_application_initiate |
Job Application Submitted | The application form is submitted | zr_job_application_submitted
|
Note:
At least one event must stay enabled while Google Tag Manager is active. You can't turn off all four.
The Event Name column shows the name you'll use to identify each event once it reaches Google Tag Manager.
Step 4: Review the data sent for each event
Before you save your configuration, check exactly what data each event will push to GTM.
- Next to any event, click View Variables.
- In the Data pushed to Google Tag Manager window, review the variables and their corresponding data.

For example, the Job Listing event sends the following data:
Variable | Variable Data |
event | zr_job_list_view |
zr_category | Zoho Recruit |
zr_action | Job Listing Viewed |
zr_site_name | Careers |
The variables and their values change depending on the event you're viewing.
Step 5: Save Your Configuration
Once you've selected your
events and reviewed their
variables, click
Update to save the configuration.

Note:
The Google Tag Manager configuration will be reflected on the career site pages. A cookie consent banner will be shown to candidates, and tracking through Google Tag Manager will take place only if the candidate provides consent.
