The billing section in RouteIQ makes it convenient for your admins to manage how your credits are purchased, consumed, and billed. The following are some important terms and definitions to help you understand the document better.

Billing Method | Definition |
Usage-Based Billing | A method of billing wherein you use the product via credits first and you get the bill afterwards based on your usage. |
Upfront Billing | A method of billing wherein you buy credits first and then use the product. |
The host product is the external product from which you use RouteIQ. There are three possible cases for your billing. They are:
Billing Scenarios:
To access this billing module, go to RouteIQ -> Settings -> Billing.
Note: Only admins can perform billing-related actions
Host Product (Eg: Zoho CRM) | RouteIQ | What it looks like |
Paid plan | Upfront Credit purchase
Paid plan | Usage-based billing and Upfront Credit purchase
Trial plan | Free trial. (Only free trial credits are applicable) |
1. If you are on your host product's (Like Zoho CRM's) paid plan with RouteIQ credits purchased upfront, the billing page will show a set-up screen. Here, admins will be able to view available Address Credits (AC), Route Credits (RC), enable usage-based billing (we recommend this method for optimal functioning), purchase additional credits using "Buy More".
Clicking this "Buy More" option redirects you to the RouteIQ Store, where you can purchase Trackers, Address Credits, Route Credits, etc., and instantly add credits to your organization.
2. If you are on your host product's paid plan with RouteIQ's usage-based billing (post-paid) enabled, then we will track usage and bills monthly based on consumption beyond available credits.
3. If you are on the host product's trial plan, usage-based billing and credit purchases will be disabled. The Billing page will only be displayed in a view-only mode with no “Buy Now” button.
Billing Cycle:
If your host product's (like Zoho CRM) renewal date is known, billing aligns with that date. Each billing cycle resets usage tracking.
Credit Consumption Order:
RouteIQ always consumes credits in the following order:
1. Available credits first
A. Free credits
B. Upfront purchased credits
2. Monthly threshold credits
A. Usage beyond available credits is billed monthly.
Credits purchased using "Buy Now" are applied in the following order. First, they offset any existing threshold usage to make sure the generated bill is always the lowest. If there is no threshold usage, they are added to available credits.
Admin Controls in Billing
Admins can disable usage-based billing at any time. All you have to do is click "Disable Billing" and confirm in the pop-up. Usage-based billing will get turned off and an invoice for usage up till that date gets generated and sent to you.
Monthly thresholds are designed to control spending and prevent unexpected charges.
If your monthly Address Credit (AC) threshold is set lower than the total number of records across enabled modules, you’ll see a warning icon next to the Billing section, a banner message inside the Billing page and a clickable link on “total number of records” that redirects to: RouteIQ Settings → Modules & Records → Enabled Modules. A low AC threshold can cause interruptions in address conversions, address refresh.
