There are two main types of credits in RouteIQ to measure your usage. They are Address Credits (AC) and Route Credits (RC). In the following help doc, you will understand what route credits are, how they are consumed, what happens when you run out of them and how to manage them efficiently.
Route Credits
Route Credits are consumed whenever routes are created, updated (updated includes adding, removing or reordering stops and changing the origin or destination), and also when you use features like Route Distribution (RD) and Automated Route Planning (ARP).
Info: Route Credits are not consumed if only the stop timing or duration is adjusted or when the stop order remains unchanged. This ensures you're charged only for significant route changes.
RouteIQ provides 30 RC per month for each RouteIQ-enabled user to your organization at no additional cost. If a user is onboarded mid-month, RCs are added on a pro-rated basis. Free RCs reset on the 1st of each month.
How Route Credits are consumed
Feature | Credits Used |
Route Created | 1 per route |
Route Updated | 1 per significant route update |
Note: Automated Route Planning (ARP) jobs will get skipped if RC are insufficient. And an email notification will be sent to the ARP creator with the Super Admin CC'd for 5 consecutive days only. Route Credits will be consumed for ARPs and RDs under "Route Created". RCs will be consumed for "Route Updated" only if significant changes like adding, removing, reordering stops or updating start/end points are done.
How to access 'Route Credits' Usage
Navigate to: RouteIQ → Settings → Credit Usage -> Route Credits Usage
Here, you will be able to see a separate usage summary for Route Credits Usage. This section can be analysed independently.
The usage tables show credits consumed during the selected period and aggregated totals based on the chosen time range. This helps you identify high-usage actions, track growth over time and correlate usage with business activity.
Our recommendations:
1. Enable usage-based billing for uninterrupted workflows.
2. Keep thresholds slightly above average usage.
3. If usage-based billing is enabled, keep the Address Credits threshold at least 20% higher than the total number of records in RouteIQ.
