Managing Categories in Resources

How do I categorize my resources?

Categories are an effective way to organize resources and make it easier for visitors to find them. Through the use of a multi-level categorization system, resources can be placed in sub-categories, allowing for a more granular and detailed classification of resources. This helps visitors quickly find the specific information they are looking for. This multi-level system can also be used to create a hierarchy of resources, keeping your knowledge base organized and clutter-free.

  • Navigate to your Articles or FAQs module and click on the Manage categories icon

There are two category types in SalesIQ:

  1. Parent category (Root): The topmost category in the hierarchy is called a parent category. This category can hold sub-categories (child categories).
  2. Sub-category
  1. Branch: These categories will be present under a parent (root) category. They can also have sub-categories of their own.
  2. Leaf: These are the lowermost category in the hierarchy. They cannot have any sub-categories of their own.

In the Manage categories view, drag and drop categories to reorder them as needed. The order will be reflected in the visitor chat window if self-service is enabled.

Note: Subcategories cannot be moved to a different parent category.

Deleting categories

To delete a category, hover over the category you want to delete and click on the Trash can icon. Before removing a category, please carefully consider the following:

  • Deleting a category will delete all sub-categories and associated Articles/FAQs.
  • All the Articles/FAQs associated with the sub-categories present will be deleted.
  • All the Articles/FAQs directly associated to the category will also be deleted.

The multi-level categorization system allows you to create a comprehensive organizational structure for your knowledge base, keeping content organized and easy to locate. Visitors can navigate the hierarchy to find relevant resources and information.
