To select multiple cells/ranges:

1. Place the selection on one of the desired cell/range.

2. Press Cmd (Ctrl for Windows) and select the other desired cells/ranges.

Multi-selection can be used to apply formats to discontinuous ranges simultaneously, select source ranges for charts, etc.
