How to apply classic conditional formats

1. Go to the Home menu and click Conditional Formatting .
   
2. Click Classic from the drop-down.
   
3. Select a type of rule you want to apply. You can format cells based on cell value, text, date, cell content or a formula and more.
   
4. In the Conditional Format dialog, select the range of cells you want to format.
   
5. Format the cells based on cell value, text, date, cell content, or a formula.
   
6. Customize your cells by changing the color, font style, font size etc.
   
7. Click Ok.
   

 

Apply color scales as conditional formats

1. Go to the Home menu and click on Conditional Formatting .
   
2. Click on Color Scales from the drop-down.
   
3. In the Conditional Format dialog, select the range of cells you want to format.
   
4. Click Customize to define your "Minimum", "Midpoint" and "Maximum" values. If not specified, default values will be applied.
   
5. Click Ok.
   

Apply icon set based conditional formatting

1. Go to the Home menu and click on Conditional Formatting .
   
2. Click on Icon Sets from the drop-down.
   
3. Click Customize to modify and define your own rules.
   
4. In the Conditional Format dialog, select the range of cells you want to format.
   
5. Choose the icon set you'd like to use from the list.
   
6. Select a rule type and define conditions for each icon. You can format cells based on Number, Percent, Percentile or Formula.
   
7. Click Ok.
   

Apply data bars as conditional formats

1. Go to the Home menu and click Conditional Formatting .
   
2. Click Data Bars from the drop-down.
   
3. Click Customize to define your own conditional format rules.
   
4. In the Conditional Format dialog, select the range of cells you want to format.
   
5. Choose the type of fill under Fills.
   
6. Pick the colors for Positive and Negative values using the drop-downs.
   
7. ClickOk.

You can hide the original cell content in the selected range by checking Hide Cell Content in the Conditional Format dialog box.
