How to create a pivot table

To create a pivot table:
  1. Go to Insert > Pivot Table  .
  2. Select the source range for the pivot table and where the table must be created.
  3. Drag and drop the required fields into the rows, columns and data sections of the pivot table.
  4. Use reset to remove all fields.

How to edit an existing pivot table

To edit an existing pivot table:
  1. Right on the pivot table you wish to edit.
  2. Select Builder from the drop-down.
  3. Make the desired edits.
  4. Alternatively, select the pivot table you wish to edit, and click the Pivot icon on the side pane and edit the table.

How to move a pivot table across sheets

To move a pivot table:
  1. Right-click on the pivot table you wish to move.
  2. Select Move from the contextual menu.
  3. Choose a destination for the pivot table i.e., a new sheet or a cell on the existing sheet, and click Ok.

How to change the style of a pivot table

To change the style of a pivot table:
  1. Click on the pivot table.
  2. In the right pane, select the Pivot icon and click Customize.
  3. Select the table style and color scheme you prefer.

To view the total:
  1. Click on the pivot table.
  2. In the right pane, go to Customize.
  3. Enable the options Subtotal, Column Grand Total, and Row Grand Total as needed.

Errors in a pivot table occur due to incorrect formulas or calculation errors in the source data.

To hide errors:

  1. Click on the pivot table.
  2. In the right pane, go to Customize and enable the Hide Errors option.
 
To repeat unique labels:
  1. Click on the pivot table.
  2. In the right pane, go to Customize and enable Repeat Item Label option.

How to group and ungroup data in pivot tables

To group data in a pivot table:

  1. Right-click on the pivot table and click Group.
  2. In the dialog box, enter the minimum, maximum and the range value as needed.
  3. To ungroup data, right-click on the pivot table and select Ungroup from the contextual menu.

How to delete a pivot table

To delete a pivot table:

  1. Right-click on the pivot table and click Delete.
  2. Alternatively, open the Customize tab from the right pane and select Delete.
