 What is an audit trail? 

An audit trail allows you to view all the changes made to the spreadsheet. You can filter these changes based on the user who made the change, the date it was edited, and the sheet or range to which the change was applied.

While Edit History in a cell allows you to view all the data that was added, modified or replaced by a user, Audit Trail provides a complete record of every action performed within the spreadsheet–including renaming sheets, formatting cells, deleting data, and more.

How to view changes made to the sheet

To view the changes made to the sheet:
  1. Go to File > Audit Trail in the menu bar.
  2. Select the user whose edit history you want to view.
  3. Filter edit history based on date, sheet or even a range.
