Drop a shift


Drop your shifts in Zoho Shifts when you’re unavailable to work, allowing eligible employees to pick them up by making your shift an open shift.

Before you start

  • Your administrator must allow dropping shifts in your organization.
  • Depending on the organization’s settings, drop requests may require approval from your manager.
  • You will remain responsible for your assigned shift until your drop request is approved.
  • You can enable Shift swap/offer/drop requests notification under my profile.

To drop a shift

  1. Open the Zoho Shifts app.

  2. Tap Schedule at the bottom of the Home page.

  3. Choose the shift you want to drop from My Schedule.

  4. Tap Drop.

  5. Enter a reason for the drop (optional).

  6. Tap Send.

If you decide to keep your shift, cancel the drop request before it is approved. You can open the request you want to cancel from the Request page, then tap decline.
On web
  1. Navigate to Schedule > My Schedule.

  2. Click the assigned shift you want to drop.

  3. In the Shift Detail window, click Drop.

  4. Enter a reason for the drop (optional).

  5. Click Send Request.

If you decide to keep your shift, cancel the drop request before it is accepted/approved. You can open the request you want to cancel from the Request tab, then select Cancel Request.

What happens next

After you send a drop request, it may require manager approval, depending on your organization's settings:
  1. If manager approval is disabled, the shift becomes an open shift instantly.
  2. If manager approval is enabled, your manager can approve or deny the request.
    1. If approved, the shift becomes an open shift.
    2. If denied, you'll remain responsible for the shift.
