Pick up open shifts
Open shifts are created by your manager instead of being directly assigned to you. These shifts are made available for you to pick up when you’re willing and able to work.
Before you start
- You will receive notifications about open shifts only if you are a part of the schedule and position for which the shift is created.
- To stay informed, enable the Open shifts available notification under My Profile. This would trigger an email and push notification every time an open shift is published.
To pick up an open shift

- Open the Zoho Shifts mobile app.
- Tap Open Shifts from the home page.
- Select the shift you want to pick up.
- Tap Pick Up Shift.
On web
- Go to Schedule > My Schedule.
- To pick up an open shift:
- Click Open Shifts in the top-right corner to view the complete list of shifts that are currently available.
- Or, click on a specific date marked with Open Shifts on the calendar. From there, you can review the details and pick up the ones that suit your schedule.
- To select the shifts you want to take on, click Pick Up Shifts.
Open shifts may require approval from your manager. When this setting is enabled, your request falls into the request pool. If the manager's approval is disabled for open shifts, the shifts you picked up are directly assigned to you.
