Overtime across multiple schedules

Overtime across multiple schedules

Zoho Shifts offers flexible options for calculating employee overtime, allowing you to choose whether overtime hours should be combined across multiple schedules or calculated separately for each schedule. When combined overtime is enabled, total worked hours across all schedules during a workweek are consolidated and used for overtime calculation based on your Zoho Shifts overtime settings.
By default this setting is enabled. If you disable this setting, the overtime calculation is applied separately for each schedule. We recommend that you ensure that you are not violating labor law when this setting is disabled.

Before you start

To set up the overtime across multiple schedules, you’ll need the Administrator access level or the Manage payroll settings permission enabled.

To configure overtime across multiple schedules:

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Payroll under the Time & Attendance section.
  3. Use the toggle beside Overtime across multiple schedules to enable the setting for the organization's payroll calculation.
  4. Click the Save button at the bottom.

Idea
For example, the weekly overtime is set to 40 hours and the overtime across multiple schedules setting is enabled. An employee who is assigned to two different schedules worked in the same workweek as follows:
Schedule A worked hours: 41 hours
Schedule B worked hours: 10 hours
The overall worked hours for the week is 51 hours(41+10) since the overtime across multiple schedules setting is enabled.
Payroll calculation for the employee for the week:

With the same worked hours across different schedules, and the overtime across multiple schedules setting is disabled, the overtime calculation goes as below.
Schedule A overtime = 1 hour
Schedule B overtime = 0 hour
