Manage Breaks in Zoho Shifts | Configure Paid & Unpaid Breaks

Manage breaks

Breaks in Zoho Shifts help you manage employee rest periods and track them accurately on timesheets. This article explains how to configure breaks and schedule them as part of shifts.

Before you start

To create and manage breaks for your organization, you'll need the Administrator access level or the Manage account and other settings permission enabled.

To create a new break

By default, Zoho Shifts creates two breaks: Meal Break (30 mins, Unpaid) and Rest Break (15 mins, Paid). You can edit or delete these defaults. You can also create additional breaks tailored to your organization’s needs.
  1. Navigate to the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Click Breaks from the Schedule section.
  3. Click +Add Break in the top-right corner.
  4. In the New Break window, enter the break Name.
  5. Specify the break Duration.
  6. Mark the break as Paid or Unpaid. Paid breaks are included in payroll calculations. Unpaid breaks are excluded from total work hours.
  7. Click Save Break.
When you edit a break, the changes to its duration do not impact breaks that are already scheduled. If you delete a break from your organization, it will no longer be available for future scheduling. Additionally, any breaks that have already been scheduled can't be taken by employees.
