Setting up Geofencing

Geofencing helps you to make sure your employees are physically present in the work location while clocking to their shifts. When you configure the Geofencing feature, your employees will only be able to clock in and out from their mobile apps within the set range of their work location and schedule.

Before you start 

  1. This feature only applies for clocking in and out from Zoho Shifts mobile app.
  2. Geofence distance will be based on the job site or schedule location associated with the scheduled shift.
  3. Ensure your employees have proper setting enabled for GPS location on their mobile device.
  4. To set up the Geofencing, you must have admin access or access level permission to configure settings in your Zoho Shifts account.
 

To setup the Geofencing for your organization: 

  1. Navigate to Settings -> Time & Attendance -> Time Clock. 
  2. Use the toggle beside Allow employees to clock in/out from mobile app to enable or disable web time clock.
  3. Select the Track GPS location setting under General section.
  4. Select the Geofence setting Allow clock in/out only within range.
  5. Choose either Clock in or Clock in and out option from the drop-down.
  6. Enter the distance value in meters to limit the clocking range.
  7. Click Save button at the bottom
 
Once this is configured, employees cannot clock in/out beyond the distance range mentioned.

Schedule based geofencing 

In some cases, you might require to override the geofence radius with different distance limitations or disable geofencing for a particular schedule. For such cases, you can enable the geofencing for specific schedules under Settings > Schedules. Learn how to configure this setting

When this is configured, the employees will be able to clock based on the distance range mentioned in the schedule only.

Job site based geofencing

For cases where you would want to set up geofencing for specific job sites different from the organization setting, you can configure it under Settings > Job Sites. Learn how to configure geofencing for job sites

Setting up this configuration will override the organizational geofencing range. Employees are restricted to the distance range mentioned in the job site.
