Whether you're running your demos continuously at trade shows and sales conferences, or showcasing a classroom or business presentation, animation effects make your presentation engaging, visually interesting, and more lively for your audience.
The Zoho Show app for Android provides a wide range of animation options for your every object on the slide. You can also animate grouped objects, such as two different shapes or pictures, to let the effects apply uniformly to all the objects in the group. Choosing the right effects for your object will make them speak for you.
Types of Animation Effects
There are four types of animation effects available under the Animate tab on the bottom bar:
- Entrance - Highlights the way your object enters the slide.
There are three sub types of Entrance effects:
- Breeze effects add a professional look to your object on the slide. These include effects like Appear, Wipe, and Wheel.
- Glide effects provide a gliding movement to your object on the slide. These include effects like Bounce, Float In, and Fly In.
- Witty effects make your object enter the slide quickly. These include effects like Flip In, Spinner, and Swivel.
- Emphasis - Draws special attention to your objects on the slide.
There are three types of Emphasis effects:
- Stress effects highlight and make the object look special. These effects include Shake, Spin, and Wave.
- Glitz effects give the object a flashy appearance and add color to your shape, text, or picture. These effects include Lighten, Darken, and Contrast Color.
- Switch effects highlight your text by changing its typeface like Underline and Bold Reveal.
- Exit - Highlights the way your object exits or leaves the slide.
There are three types of Exit effects:
- Breeze effects are simple and smooth effects that wipe out the object from the slide. These include effects like Disappear and Fade.

- Curve adds a curvy motion path to objects.
- Squiggle creates a wavy motion path to objects.
The Custom motion path effect lets you draw your own animation path to objects,
Apply Animation Effects
-
Select the object to animate and click the Animate tab on the bottom bar.
- Select the type of animation effect you want to apply (Entrance, Emphasis, Exit or Path).
For example, if you want your object to make an amazing entry, select Entrance. Similarly, you can apply Emphasis or Exit effects to an object by choosing an effect from that category.
- Tap the Plus icon in the Animation section. This will open the list of different animation options in that category.
-
Pick an effect of your choice, then click the back arrow to return to the Animation section.
You can click the Preview icon at the top-right corner of the Add Animation section to take a look at how the effect appears.
Apply multiple animations - If you think a single effect is not enough, you can apply multiple animations in the same way. Adding multiple effects to the same object makes your presentation look more interesting. If the object has more than one effect, each effect will be indicated with a different animation number (for example, number 1 for the first effect, number 2 for the second effect, 3 for third effect, and so on) and they will play in the same sequence as you have added them.
-
After you apply the animation effects, you can view the order in which these effects are applied to your objects and play all the effects at once.
An animation number will appear next to every animated object on the slide, and the name of the effect will appear below that object inside the Animation Order section. In this section, you can also preview or delete an effect.
- After you add the animation, you can tap a particular effect to change or delete it. You can click the Preview button to preview the change in the Animation Options section. You can also adjust the Duration slider to set the time frame for that effect.
In the Animation Options section, you can also set the direction for the applied effect. Further, the app lets you animate The Whole Object, All paragraphs at Once, and One Paragraph at a Time:
- The Whole Object - Animates the entire content of the text box as a single unit. Whenever you animate text, this option occurs by default.
- All paragraphs at Once - Animates all the paragraphs or bullet lists in one go.
- Animate text by Word - Click By Word to animate text one word at a time.
- Animate text by Letter - Click By Letter to animate text one letter at a time.
- One Paragraph at a Time - Animates each paragraph or bullet list one at a time.
- Animate text by word - Click By Word to animate text one word at a time.
- Animate text by letter - Click By Letter to animate text one letter at a time.
You can also set the level up to which you want to animate using the Till drop-down.
