If you have multiple shapes, pictures, or placeholders placed one above the other on your slide in Zoho Show, you can quickly arrange and realign them without affecting the overall properties of the slide object. The presentation app for your Android device comes with various alignment and positioning options that lets you precisely position, distribute, and organize all your slide elements to build a neat looking slide deck.
Align objects on a slide
Alignment determines the orientation of your text or objects on the slide. This option lets you easily line up several objects both horizontally (left, right or, center) and vertically (top, center, or bottom) in a row, and saves you from manually aligning one object or text at a time.
To change the alignment of objects,
1. Tap the object (text box, shape, picture, etc) you want to align, choose Format then ARRANGE tab (in the bottom pane).
2. Choose the direction you want to align the objects with relation to the slide.
To align objects horizontally (left, right, center):
- Click the Left icon to align the selected objects to the left of the slide.
- Click the Center icon to align the selected objects to the center of the slide.
- Click the Right icon to align the selected objects to the right of the slide.
To align objects vertically (top, middle, bottom):
- Click the Top icon to align the selected objects to the top of the slide.
- Click the Middle icon to align the selected objects to the middle of the slide.
- Click the Bottom icon to align the selected objects at the bottom of a slide.
Rearrange an object
With the Zoho Show app, you can easily move an object behind or in front of several other objects. This can be useful when trying to show text through many layers of pictures that are overlapping each other.
To rearrange objects on a slide,
1. Tap the object (text box, shape, picture, etc) you want to rearrange, choose Format then ARRANGE tab (in the bottom pane).
2. There are four ways you can arrange the slide objects: To Front, Forward, To Back, and Backward.
- Tap icon to bring the selected objects in front of all other objects
- Tap icon to bring the selected objects one level above all other slide objects.
- Tap icon to move the selected objects behind all other slide objects.
- Tap icon to move the selected objects one level below all other slide objects.
Distribute objects evenly on a slide
Distribute or spread out three or more objects equidistant from each other, either in rows or columns. This option helps bring order to a cluttered slide in no time.
To distribute objects evenly,
1. Tap the objects (text box, shape, picture, etc) you want to distribute evenly, choose Format then ARRANGE tab (in the bottom pane).
2. Navigate to Distribute and choose how you want to distribute your objects.
- Tap Horizontal to distribute the selected objects equally on a horizontal plane (side-by-side) so that they are equally spaced.
- Tap Vertical to distribute the selected objects equally on a vertical plane (above and below) so that they are equally spaced.
Resize an object
In addition to manually clicking and dragging your finger to alter the size of an object, the Zoho Show app for Android provides you two quick ways to resize your images or shapes based on width/height and aspect ratio values. This option lets you accurately modify the proportions of several objects without changing their essential shape.
To resize an object on a slide,
1. Tap the object (text box, shape, picture, etc) you want to resize, choose Format then ARRANGE tab (in the bottom pane).
2. Navigate to Size & Position and resize your object as follows:
- Resize by width and height - Resize by entering the Size values to have precise control over the dimensions. This helps you set uniform proportions for all slide objects. To do this, use the Up and Down arrow to set the required size value.
- Resize using the aspect ratio - Resize an object with respect to a common aspect ratio to fit the exact proportions and size of the picture within the set object frame or box. Knowing the aspect ratio helps you to adjust the size values to match with all other slide objects even before you start working.
To do this, enable the Maintain Aspect Ratio checkbox. You will see the default Width and Height values of the selected object on the slide.
Rotate an object
When you are modeling objects in your presentation, you may want to rotate and place them at specific angles on the slide. The Zoho Show app lets you turn your images, text, and shapes by both clockwise and anti-clockwise to illustrate concepts and create different patterns on the slide.
To rotate an object,
1. Tap the object (text box, shape, picture, etc) you want to rotate, choose Format then ARRANGE tab (in the bottom pane).
2. Scroll down to Rotation slider and drag your finger to the right or left to rotate your object in either direction.
You can also manually rotate the object by turning the rotation handle on top in the direction you want.
Change the position of an object
State the position of an object to precisely fix two objects in the same distance or order with respect to each other on the slide.
To move and position an object,
1. Tap the object (text box, shape, picture, etc) you want to move, choose Format then ARRANGE tab (in the bottom pane).
2. Scroll down to Size & Position and set the Horizontal/Vertical position of your object using the Up and Down arrows.
3. The object will be moved to the required position within the slide.
You can also manually move the object by tapping on the object and dragging it with your finger to a new position.
Flip an object horizontally or vertically
Flip objects either horizontally or vertically to create mirror images of your pictures on the slide. Flip is a useful option on Zoho Show app that lets you make a reflection of the original image or shape in the reverse direction and can be used to create fun patterns.
To flip an object on a slide,
1. Select the object (text box, shape, picture, etc) you want to flip, choose Format then ARRANGE tab (in the bottom pane).
2. Scroll down to Flip and tap on the following to flip your object as desired:
- Horizontal flip icon to flip the object horizontally (right to left or left to right).
- Vertical flip icon to flip the object vertically (top to bottom or bottom to top).
