Apply transition effects to the slides
A slide transition is the movement that occurs when you navigate from one slide to another in a presentation. These special effects make your slide look attractive and vibrant. Each transition in the Show iOS app is unique and has its own aesthetic appeal.
Different types of transition effects
There are three categories of transition effects available under ANIMATE section in the top bar.
- Serene transitions provide a calm, quiet effect to your slides. These effects add a smooth and professional look to your presentation. For example, the Fade and Wheel effect dissolves the content in your slide.
- Flare transitions exhibit the slide like a movie or video. These effects are great for pictures and media files in your presentation.
For example:
Fall effect: Current slide falls away, leaving the next slide in its place
Pivot effect: Next slide rotates in from the corner of the previous slide
- Zing transitions provide a dynamic motion to reveal the upcoming slide.
For example:
Cover: Layers each new slide over the previous slide as though they were pages in a book
Cube: Rotates the current slide like a cube and presents the next slide on another face of the cube
Apply transition effect to a slide
To apply a transition effect to the slide:
- Select the slide you want to apply the transition to.
- Select ANIMATE in the top bar and then click the Transition button at the bottom of the screen. A list of all the available transition options will be displayed.

- Tap Type to select a transition effect from a category and apply it to the slide: Serene, Flare, or Zing.
For example, if you want your slide to make a subtle entrance, choose a transition effect from the Serene category.

- After you apply a slide transition, perform any of the following functions under ANIMATE:
- Preview the transition: Click the Preview button to see how the effect will appear during the session. All the transitions will play as you move from one slide to the next.
- Change to a different transition: Tap Type to choose a different transition effect from the list. You can also adjust the Variant and Duration of the transition from the bottom pane.

Change the direction of transition
Every transition is set to move in a specified direction in the presentation, but you can also change the direction of the effect based on how you want the slide to enter.
To change the direction of a transition:
- Click the Variant list and choose a direction in which you want the slide to enter or exit the screen. You can also click the Preview button to preview the effect.

Change the duration of the transition effect
Every transition you add to the slide has a default speed with which it appears on a TV or projector screen. You need to adjust this duration of the transition effect so that it matches with the pace of effects you applied on the previous or next slide. This can be done easily using Show iOS app.
To change the speed or duration of the effect:
- Drag the Duration slider to increase or decrease the duration (number of seconds) of the transition effect applied on the slide.

Advance slide
The iOS app also allows you to set a delay time for the slides to play them one after the other. This helps the viewers to read and understand your message in the slide better:
- To advance slides manually, select the On Click checkbox, a default option in the Advance Slide section.
- To advance slides automatically with a set delay, enable the After checkbox in the Advance Slide section. You can use buttons to increase or decrease the delay time.

If you wish to set the same transition properties such as type, direction, speed, and delay time for all the slides in your presentation, click Apply To All.
You can also remove the transition effect applied to a slide using the None option under Type at the bottom pane.
