If you have multiple objects on top of each other on a slide, you can quickly arrange and realign them without affecting their overall properties. The Editor app for iOS comes with various alignment and positioning options to let you precisely organize slide elements and build a great looking deck.
Align objects on a slide
Alignment determines the orientation of your text or objects on slides. This option lets you easily line up multiple objects both horizontally (left, right, or center) and vertically (top, center, or bottom). This saves you time compared to manually aligning one object or text at a time.
To change the alignment of objects:
- Tap the object (text box, shape, picture, etc.) you want to align, click Format and then select the ARRANGE tab (on the bottom pane).
- Choose the direction you want to align the objects on the slide.
To align objects horizontally (left, right, center):
- Click the left icon to align the selected objects to the left of the slide
- Click the center icon to align the selected objects to the center of the slide
- Click the right icon to align the selected objects to the right of the slide
To align objects vertically (top, middle, bottom):
- Click the top icon to align the selected objects to the top of the slide
- Click the middle icon to align the selected objects to the middle of the slide
- Click the bottom icon to align the selected objects at the bottom of a slide
Distribute objects evenly on a slide
Distribute or spread out three or more objects equally from each other, either in rows or columns. This allows you to bring order to a cluttered slide in no time.
To distribute objects evenly:
- Tap the objects (text box, shape, picture, etc.) you want to distribute evenly, click Format and then the ARRANGE tab (on the bottom pane).
- Navigate to Distribute and choose how you want to distribute your objects:
- Tap Horizontal icon to distribute the selected objects equally on a horizontal plane (side-by-side) so that they are equally spaced
- Tap Vertical icon to distribute the selected objects equally on a vertical plane (above and below) so that they are equally spaced
Flip an object horizontally or vertically
Flip objects either horizontally or vertically to create mirror images of your pictures on slides. Flip is a useful option in the iOS app that lets you make a reflection of the original imageand create fun patterns.
To flip an object on a slide:
- Select the object you want to flip, click Format and then the ARRANGE tab (on the bottom pane).
- Scroll down to Flip and tap one of the following to flip your object:
- The horizontal flip icon to flip the object horizontally (right to left or left to right)
- The vertical flip icon to flip the object vertically (top to bottom or bottom to top)
Rearrange an object
You can use the Show iOS app to easily move an object behind or in front of other objects. This can be useful if you want to show text through pictures that are overlapping each other.
To rearrange objects on a slide:
- Tap the object you want to rearrange, click Format and then the ARRANGE tab (on the bottom pane).
- There are four ways you can arrange objects on slides.
To Front, Forward, To Back, and Backward:
- Tap to bring the selected objects in front of all other objects
- Tap to bring the selected objects one level above all other slide objects
- Tap to move the selected objects behind all other slide objects
- Tap to move the selected objects one level below all other slide objects
Rotate an object
When you model objects in your presentation, you may want to rotate and place them at specific angles on slides. The iOS app lets you turn your images, text, and shapes clockwise and anti-clockwise to illustrate concepts and create different patterns on the deck.
To rotate an object:
- Tap the object you want to rotate, click Format and then the ARRANGE tab (on the bottom pane).
- Scroll down to the Rotation slider and drag your finger to the right or left to rotate your object in the respective direction.
You can also manually rotate the object by turning its rotation handle in the direction you want.
Resize an object
In addition to manually resizing objects on slides, the iOS app provides you with two quick ways to resize your images or shapes. The first approach uses width and height values, and the other uses aspect ratio values. These methods let you accurately modify objects without changing their original shape.
To resize an object on a slide:
- Tap the object you want to resize, click Format and then the ARRANGE tab (on the bottom pane).
- Navigate to Size & Position and resize your object as follows:
- Resize manually: Use the Width and Height arrow buttons to set the required size value for the object.
- Resize automatically: Enable the Maintain Aspect Ratio checkbox to adjust the width or height of the object when you change one of their values.
Change the position of an object
Modify the orientations of an object with respect to other elements on the slide from your mobile.
To move and position an object:
- Tap the object you want to move, click Format and then the ARRANGE tab (in the bottom pane).
- Scroll down to Size & Position and set the Horizontal or Vertical position for your object using the up and down arrow buttons.
The object will be moved to the required position on the slide.
You can also manually move the object by tapping on the object and dragging it with your finger to a new position.
