SharePlay allows you to place an audio or video call from the FaceTime app, and stream video or audio with a group of people. With the SharePlay option for Zoho Show, you can now present your slideshow through FaceTime or Messages with your team. The presenter initiates the SharePlay session and can add any number of viewers.
- On receiving an incoming FaceTime call, the viewer clicks Join.
- The presenter taps Start to present the slideshow.
- The viewer taps Open to view the presentation.
The owner of the presentation must be signed in to the app.
The presentation should be synced with the server.
You cannot initiate a SharePlay session with a presentation that has been shared with you.
The viewer will be able to view the presentation without signing in to the Show account. However, to request to present or present, they will have to sign in to the app.
Initiating a SharePlay session
You can initiate a SharePlay session from the Zoho Show app or FaceTime app.
From Zoho Show app
A SharePlay session can be initiated from the listing page, editor page, or while presenting a slide show.
Listing page
- Press and hold the presentation thumbnail.
- Tap SharePlay.
- Search for and add members using their phone number or email address.
- Tap the + icon in the top-right corner to add more contacts.
- Tap FaceTime. The call will be automatically connected to the contacts added.
- Tap Start to initiate the SharePlay session.
Editor page
- Open the required presentation.
- Tap at the top-right corner.
- Tap SharePlay.
A dialog box will appear stating that the SharePlay session will be initiated from the listing page.
- Tap Continue.
- Search for and add the contact of your team member.
- Tap the + icon in the top-right corner to add more contacts.
- Tap FaceTime. The call will be automatically connected to the contacts added.
- Tap Start to initiate the SharePlay session.
Slideshow
- Open the required presentation and tap the Play icon in the top-right corner.
- Open the bottom pane and tap SharePlay.
A dialog box will appear stating that the SharePlay session will be initiated from the listing page.
- Tap Continue.
- Search for and add the contact of your team member.
- Tap the + icon in the top-right corner to add more contacts.
- Tap FaceTime, the call will be automatically connected to the contacts added.
- Tap Start to initiate the SharePlay session.
- The viewer has to tap Open to view the presentation.
From the FaceTime app
- Open the FaceTime app and tap New FaceTime.
- Search for and add the contact that you'd like to connect.
- Tap the + icon to add more contacts.
- Tap Share my screen icon from the top of the app and tap Show app. This will take you to the listing page.
- Long press your presentation and share it with SharePlay.
To add a contact during the session
- To add a contact, tap from the top-right corner and tap Add People.
- To invite through link, tap from the top-right corner and tap Share Link.
As a presenter
The presenter initiates the SharePlay session, but can hand it over to a viewer if they request to present.
- The presenter taps Start to initiate the session. Until then, the viewer will only see a blank screen.
The presenter can use draw tools to highlight content in their slides. These highlights will be visible throughout the session or until you choose to clear them.
- Tap in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap the color at the bottom-right corner to highlight the content.
- Tap Clear at the bottom-right corner to delete the highlighting.
Notes
The presenter can add notes for any slide to help recall points. The notes will only be visible to the presenter.
- Tap to view the notes added to a slide.
Screen black out
If the presenter wants to navigate to another app without exiting the SharePlay session, they can choose to black out the screen for the audience.
- Tap at the bottom-left corner.
- To resume the session, tap again.
Back to live
When the presenter has navigated the thumbnails to a different slide during the presentation, Back to live will take them to the currently presented slide.
Transfer of presenter
A viewer can request to continue to present the existing session. The presenter will receive an incoming notification once the viewer requests to present. They can tap or to accept or decline the request. Upon accepting the request, the presenter transfers the control of the presentation to the viewer.
Once a presenter ends a session the control will be transferred to the previous presenter.
As a viewer
Revisit the slides
The viewer will be able to view the number of slides in the presentation but will only be able to view the slides presented by the presenter.
Scroll the thumbnails at the bottom of the app and tap the required slide to view it.
Sync with presenter
After revisiting the slides, if you'd like to stay in sync with the presenter, tap Sync with Presenter to view the slide being presented now.
Request to present
The viewer can choose to request to present the presentation. Upon the presenter's approval, the presenter's control will be transferred to the viewer.
- Tap at the bottom-right corner to raise a request to present.
The presenter will receive an incoming notification when a request is initiated by the viewer. The presenter can tap or to approve or reject the request.
Terminate the SharePlay session
The viewer or the presenter can choose to end a SharePlay session from the Show app or the FaceTime app.
From the Show app
- Tap End at the top-left corner.
The session will also be terminated when you exit the Show app.
From the Facetime app
- Open the FaceTime app.
- Tap the Share My Screen icon.
- Tap End SharePlay.
You'll be able to view the following options:
- End for Everyone - Ends the SharePlay session for all the participants.
- End Only for Me - Ends the SharePlay session only for the specific user.
- Cancel - Cancels the action.
The owner of the presentation can tap End in the top-left corner, or can exit the presentation to end the session for all the participants.
