The Pause/Resume feature in Zoho Social helps you with unforeseen emergency situations when you may need to put your scheduled posts on hold. Working as an in-built crisis button, it puts all your scheduled-posts on hold with a single click until you resume them.
Let’s say you have a nice, long stack of posts neatly spread out in your publishing calendar, scheduled to go out from your social channels. But you suddenly run into an unexpected event - maybe a crisis of some sort - such as a social media backlash from your users, or an internal mishap prompting a time-out. What do you do now?
While we don’t ever want this to happen to you, your business should be equipped to deal with any such situations if and when they do arise. Learn about how you can use the Pause/Resume feature in Zoho Social to temporarily put your posts on hold.
This action can only be performed by the Brand Admin or the Portal Admin.

Alerting Team Members
Pausing and Resuming scheduled posts, comes with the convenience of keeping your team members informed of your action. This communication happens in a number of ways
Adding a message
When you hit Pause, the pop-up that appears will prompt you to leave a message for your team members. You can choose to go with the default message or write one of your own. This will be published as a discussion, which can be tracked from the Collaborate tab.
Notifications
a. Team Notification:
All your team members will receive a notification under the 'Team Notification' menu if you have paused posts. This is located on the top right corner of the Zoho Social home screen.
b. Email Notification:
If you have paused or resumed scheduled posts, your team-members will also get an email notification alerting them of your action.
c. New Post pop-up Notification:
If a team member tries to create a new post directly from the Posts section during a 'pause' mode, they will be alerted about this through a one-time pop-up in the publishing window.
Republishing unpublished posts.
During a pause-mode, there may be posts that you've pre-scheduled which don't get published because their time has lapsed. You can easily retrieve these scheduled posts and publish them again. To do this, click on Posts in your home screen and you will find a section called 'Unpublished Posts'. Here, posts which haven't been published will appear under a sub-section called 'Unattempted Posts'.
From here, you can do the following:
- Edit the content of these posts.
- Discuss any of these posts with other team members in the Collaborate tab (it will carry the paused post marker).
- Republish a post right away or reschedule for a later time and date.
Here's how you can republish posts that didn't get published during a Pause mode:
- Click on Posts --> Unpublished Posts --> Unattempted Posts.
- Locate your post and click on the ellipsis (...) on the top right corner.
- From the drop-down, choose from the following - edit, discuss, republish.
Hit Republish to make it go live immediately.
You can also reschedule it to a later date and time from here. You can do this by simply clicking on the Reschedule button underneath the post. This will open your post in the publishing window from where you can choose a time and date for the post.
