Add new tax exemption and tax authority in US and Canada
Adding a New Tax Exemption
There may be situations where you are exempt from paying taxes because of the item or the customer to whom you are selling the product. For example, the sale of medicines is exempt from sales tax in New Jersey.
To create a Tax Exemption:
- For iOS: Click the Settings icon in the top-left corner and click Payments > Tax > Tax Exemptions.
- For Android: Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the home screen and click Settings > Tax > Tax Exemptions.
- Click the + icon in the top-right corner.
- Provide an Exemption Reason and enter a short description, if necessary.
- Select the basis of the tax exemption by choosing either Customer or Items under Type.
- Click Save to add the new tax exemption.
Adding a New Tax Authority
To create a Tax Authority:
- For iOS: Click the Settings icon in the top-left corner and click Payments > Tax > Tax Authorities.
- For Android: Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the home screen and click Settings > Tax > Tax Authorities.
- Click the + icon in the top-right corner.
- Enter the name of the Tax Authority and provide a short description, if necessary.
- Click Save to add the new tax authority.
