Settings

After adding questions to your survey, you need to design it with themes and colors that it looks smart and stunning. You can also work on the various settings and customize the navigation buttons here.

After adding questions to your survey, you need to design it with themes and colors that it looks smart and stunning. You can also work on the various settings and customize the navigation buttons here. You can use the Settings tab to customize your survey: set up the header and footer, rename buttons, and customize the survey end pages for specific audiences. When you're done adding questions in the Survey Builder tab, click the Settings tab. You can add or change the logo and title in the survey header to give your survey a professional look. 

To add a logo to your survey: 

  1. If you are a paid user, click Browse in the Header section. 

  2. Click      to insert an image in the survey question.  
    1. From image gallery - You can drag and drop the image in the box, or click to upload images from your gallery.  
       
    2. From URL - Type in or copy/paste the web link of the image in the  Image URL  box. The image should be in JPEG or PNG format with a resolution of 250px x 85px. If you haven't upgraded to our paid plans, the Zoho Survey logo will be added to your survey, by default. As part of our branding, we include the Zoho logo in the header of all free plan surveys. You can remove this and add a custom logo if you have a paid plan 
  3. To finalize the image selection, click Insert.  
  4. To make changes to the image selection, click Cancel
  5. Click Save Settings.

To add a title to your survey:

  1. Add a title to your survey in the Header section of the Settings tab.
  2. Click Use survey name to use the survey name as the survey title.
  3. To use something other than the survey name as the survey title, click Use specific text and add a new survey title.
  4. Click Save Settings.

To change your survey's name:

  1. Click the survey name in the top banner.
  2. Make necessary changes in the Survey Name.
  3. Click Update.


You can customize the footer only if you have a paid plan. Paid users can now add a logo, message, or a copyright notice and customize the footer to their preferences. 
As part of our branding, we include the Zoho logo in the footer of all free plan surveys. You can customize the footer only if you have a paid plan. Paid users can now add a logo, message, or a copyright notice and customize the footer to their preferences. To remove the 'Powered by Zoho Survey' text in your survey's footer, subscribe to a paid plan and uncheck the checkbox.

Introduction Page

You can add an introduction page to say something about the topic of your survey. This helps your users to get an idea about the survey before they attempt it. You can enable or disable this in the Settings tab. The same introduction page will be used as the homepage in your offline survey. Additionally, any terms and conditions you add will be displayed at the end of the Introduction page.

To add an introduction page:

  1. Click Introduction Page in the Settings tab.
  2. Click Enable.
  3. Fill in the Title field.
  4. Fill in the Description field.
  5. If you'd like to change the Begin Survey button label text, make changes in the default text as necessary. You can customize the button and add some color to it in Themes.
  6. Click Save.

To disable the introduction page:

  1. Open the Settings tab and click Introduction Page in the left menu.
  2. Toggle the green button off.

Survey Preferences

The Survey Preferences section enables you to show page progress bar, question numbers and previous button, enable CAPTCHA, personalize the navigation buttons' labels, and change the language of your survey's messages.

To show the page progress bar in your survey:

  1. Click Survey Preferences in the Settings tab. 
  2. Select Show page progress bar to show respondents how much of the survey is left.

To show question numbers in your survey:

  1. Click Survey Preferences in the Settings tab.
  2. Select Show question numbers if you want your survey questions to be numbered.

To enable CAPTCHA in your survey:

  1. Click Survey Preferences in the Settings tab.
  2. Select Enable CAPTCHA (Prevents action by automated software) to protect your surveys from automated bots. CAPTCHA stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.

To show a previous button and allow respondents to go to previous pages:

  1. Click Survey Preferences in the Settings tab.
  2. Select Show previous button to allow your respondents to go back to previous pages of the survey at any time.

To skip the first page if all the questions are prepopulated:

  1. Click Survey Preferences in the Settings tab.
  2. Select Skip the first page if all the questions are prepopulated.

To customize the buttons in your survey:

  1. Click Survey Preferences in the Settings tab.
  2. Type new names in the Submit button, Next button, and Previous button fields to customize them.

To change the language of your survey's messages:

  1. Click Survey Preferences in the Settings tab.
  2. Select a default language from the Language dropdown list.

To set up a custom text for minimized pop-up surveys:

  1. Click Survey Preferences in the Settings tab.
  2. Edit the default text displayed in the Continue Pop-up Survey button field.

Does Zoho Survey support RTL languages?

Yes, Zoho Survey supports right-to-left language format, to name a few — Arabic, Hebrew, Urdu, Persian, Yiddish. You can select the language to view the survey messages in Settings.

Terms and Conditions

You can use the terms and conditions feature to ask your respondents to agree to a set of terms before taking up your survey. You can enable or disable this in the Settings tab. The terms and conditions will be displayed at the end of the Introduction page if you have added an introduction page. Alternatively, it will be displayed at the end of the first page of your survey; in a pop-up survey, the terms and conditions will appear as the first question.

To add terms and conditions to your survey:

  1. Click Terms and Conditions in the Settings tab.
  2. Click Enable.
  3. Add the agreement in the Description field.
  4. Add a label for the condition in the Condition Label field.
  5. Select how you want your users to navigate in the Navigation Behavior section:
    1. Only enable the Next button upon accepting the agreement
    2. Display an error message upon clicking the Next button without accepting the agreement
  6. Click Save.

To disable the terms and conditions:

  1. Open the Settings tab and click Terms and Conditions in the left menu.
  2. Toggle the green button off.


Save and Continue Later

Give your survey respondents the freedom to leave their surveys partway through and continue later from where they left. This feature saves the progress of the survey so the users can continue the survey at any time, without losing their responses. The respondents can come back later and update their responses even after submitting the responses in the survey. There is also an option for your respondents to choose to receive the unique survey link in an email to continue the survey later. 

To enable the feature:

  1. Open the Settings tab and click Save and Continue Later on the left menu.
  2. Click Enable.
  3. Make changes to the already filled in fields, if necessary, and click Save.

To edit the email content:

  1. After enabling the feature, type in the name of the sender in the Sender name field.
  2. Make changes to the already filled in SubjectEmail message, and Email button label if necessary.
  3. Click Save

To update the responses even after submitting the survey:

  1. After enabling the feature, select the checkbox in the Response Modification section.
  2. Click Save.

To disable the feature:

  1. Open the Settings tab and click Save and Continue Later on the left menu.
  2. Toggle the green button off.

Limitations

  1. The Save and Continue option only works from the second page of your survey.
  2. The feature won't work if you have set up restrictions to collect unique responses for each user in the Launch > Restrictions menu.


Social Media Preview

You can now customize the preview text, title, and logo that appear when you share your survey on social media or through other messaging applications. However, while you make an update to the meta information on these social media websites and apps, you'd notice a delay in the updated data to reflect in the site. You'd need to do either of the following to get the data updated:
  1. Create new collectors each time you make an update and share the survey again by using the new collector
  2. Share the survey URL again by using the social media icons in Launch

To add a custom preview title:

  1. Open the Settings tab and click Social Media Preview on the left menu.
  2. Click Use survey title if you'd like to use the name of the survey as the preview title.
  3. Click Use specific text, and type in the new title in the textbox if you'd like to use a custom title.

To add a preview image:

  1. Open the Settings tab and click Social Media Preview on the left menu.
  2. Click Use survey logo if you'd like to use the survey logo as the preview image.
  3. Click Use specific image and select Browse to upload an image of your choice.
Note: You can upload images upto 2MB size, with a resolution of 1200px x 628px.

To add a preview text:

  1. Open the Settings tab and click Social Media Preview on the left menu.
  2. Edit the default description if you'd like to add a custom preview description for your survey.

Survey End Page

The survey end page, or thank you page, is where respondents land after submitting their responses. You can add logic to send respondents to different end pages based on their responses. For example, set a scoring logic to customize the end page of a survey based on each respondent's score on each page. You can also display the survey scores on custom end pages. The customized survey end page will also be applied to your offline surveys

To add logic for your survey end page: 

  1. Click Survey End Page in the Settings tab. 
  2. Click Add Logic in the End Page Logic section.

  3. Select a question in the If list. 
  4. Set a condition: 
    • Equal to 
    • Not equal to 
    • Contains 
    • Starts with 
    • Ends with 
    If you select anything that has a numerical value in the If section, choose from the following conditions:  
    • Equal to 
    • Not equal to 
    • Less than 
    • Greater than 
    • In between 
  5. In the Operand box provided, type in or choose the answer you're looking for. You can add multiple conditions here. 

  6. In the Then list, select what you want your respondents to see after submitting their response: 
    • Zoho Survey's Thank You page: Send respondents Zoho Survey's default Thank You page. 
    • Show summary of responses: Send your respondents to the Reports page, where they can see all the responses in a report format. 
    • Show the submitted response: Show respondents all of the responses they've submitted. 
    • Custom message: Show respondents a customized message instead of the usual Thank You page. Type the message in the text box that appears. You can also insert a variable to the survey close message. 
    • Redirect to a new page: Send respondents to a different page after they submit their responses. Type in the URL of the page in the space provided. You can also add parameters to the redirect URL and mention parameters in the survey response. To do so: 
    • Click Add Parameter in the Dynamic Parameters section. 
    • Enter the parameter name. 
    • Set the parameter value. 
    • Click + to add more parameters. 
    • Click X to delete a parameter.

  7. Click Create online surveys to delete a logic option. You can add multiple logic options here and send your respondents to different pages based on their responses. 

To change your survey's default end page: 

  1. Click Survey End Page in the Settings tab. 
  2. In the Default end page section, select what you want your respondents to see after submitting their response: 
    1. Zoho Survey's Thank You page: Send respondents Zoho Survey's default Thank You page. 
    2. Show summary of responses: Send your respondents to the Reports page, where they can see all the responses in a report format. 
    3. Show the submitted response: Show respondents all of the responses they've submitted. 
    4. Custom message: Show respondents a customized message instead of the usual Thank You page. Type the message in the text box that appears. You can also insert a variable to the survey close message. 
    5. Redirect to a new page: Send respondents to a different page after they submit their responses. Type in the URL of the page in the space provided. You can also add parameters to the redirect URL and mention parameters in the survey response. 
      1. Click Add Parameter in the Dynamic Parameters section. 
      2. Enter the parameter name. 
      3. Set the parameter value. 
      4. Click   to add more parameters. 
      5. Click   to delete a parameter. 
        Customize the default survey end page

To show the survey scores on the end page:

  1. Select Custom message from the Then list when setting up a termination logic option message. 
  2. Edit the text and click Insert Variable
  3. Select the appropriate variable from the Score section:  
    Show survey scores on end page
  4. Click Respondent's score (percentage) to send the percentage of the total score. 
  5. Click Respondent's score (value) to send only the user's score. 
  6. Click Survey total score to send the total score. 
  7. Click Page> Respondent's score (percentage) to send the percentage of the total score on a particular page. 
  8. Click Page> Respondent's score (value) to send only the user's score on a particular page. 
  9. Click Page total score to send the total score for a particular page. 

Disqualification Page

You can show a customized message to the respondents who have been disqualified from answering your survey. You can restrict them from accessing the question by applying a disqualification logic

To customize the survey disqualification page: 

  1. Click Survey Disqualification Page in the Settings tab. 
  2. To show the respondents a customized message instead of the usual Thank You page, type the message in the Custom message box. You can also insert a variable to the survey close message. 
  3. If you want your respondents to redirect them to a new page after submitting their response, select Redirect to a new page
  4. Type in the URL of the page in the space provided. You can also add parameters to the redirect URL and mention parameters in the survey response. 
    1. Click  Add Parameter  in the  Dynamic Parameters  section. 
    2. Enter the parameter name. 
    3. Set the parameter value. 
    4. Click   to add more parameters. 
    5. Click   to delete a parameter.

Closed Survey Page

You can customize the message that the respondents see when they attempt to access a survey that you've closed. 
Add a survey close message 

To customize a closed survey page:

  1. Click Closed Survey Page in the Settings tab.
  2. Enter the message you'd like to show your respondents.
