Create a Survey

Zoho Survey provides a user-friendly interface for creating customized surveys to help you start gathering customer feedback right away.

There are four ways to create surveys:

  1. Create survey from scratch
  2. Using templates
  3. Copy from existing survey
  4. Import survey
  5. Create survey using AI 

Create survey from scratch

  1. Click Create New Survey.
  2. Fill in the Survey name field.
  3. Select the category your survey fall under in the Category Name dropdown list.
  4. Click Create Survey. You'll go to the builder, where you can start adding questions to your survey.Create blank survey
You can create a new survey from the My Surveys page, too.
Create online surveys

Create survey using templates  

Zoho Survey offers over 250+ templates in 10 categories. You can use these predefined templates to build your survey. Follow the steps to create a survey using templates.

  1. Click on Create Survey and select Choose from Template.

  1. Select a template from the list of templates in the left pane.

  2. Once the template is chosen, click SELECT.

  3. Give your survey a name and click CREATE. You can also add tags while creating the survey.

 

Copy existing surveys

You can create surveys by copying from existing surveys. To do that,

  1. Click on Create Survey and choose Copy Existing Survey.

  1. Choose the survey that has to be created again.

  2. Give your survey a name and click CREATE. You can also add tags while creating the survey.

Import Survey

Use cases:

Consider an example of a course feedback survey, where you have all the questions documented in your files. You can convert such files to surveys using this Import Survey feature.

Import surveys from other sources like .doc, .docx, and .txt formats. You can also paste questions in the Quick Editor.

How to import surveys

  1. Click on Create survey and choose Import Survey.

  2. Choose to import a survey from files in formats likes .doc, .docx, .txt or copy questions and paste them in the Quick Editor.

  1. Using import: If you have survey questions as documents on your desktop or in your cloud, you can directly add them to Zoho Survey using Import Document. Click on How to Format to see how the questions should be arranged in the document.



     

Create surveys using AI 

Zoho Survey’s AI lets you turn a simple description into a ready-to-use survey. Simply describe what you want to measure or ask, and the AI will generate relevant, error-free questions in seconds. You can then review and refine the questions, adjust formats, add survey logic like branching or skip rules, and publish your survey all within minutes. Prerequisite
  

To create surveys using AI in Zoho Survey, Gen AI must be enabled for your account. If Gen AI access is not enabled, contact your account admin to turn it on.
  1. Navigate go to Profile → Manage Portal → Apps and Services → Enable Gen AI

To create surveys using AI:
  1. Click the Creates Surveys button from the survey dashboard.

 
  1. Select  the Create surveys using AI tab.You can enter your own prompt, generate one using the Generate Prompt option, or select a predefined prompts to create your survey.
 

  1. If you choose the Generate Prompt option to create a survey, add details such as your survey goal, industry, survey language, and target audience to generate more precise survey questions.


  1. To create a survey using Predefined Prompts, click the option and select your industry. A relevant prompt will be automatically generated, which you can edit to suit your needs, or use as is to create your survey.

  1. Once your survey is generated using your own prompt, Predefined Prompts, or the Generate Prompt option, you can review and edit the questions or use the survey as is, based on your requirements.

  1. You can align the questions using AI or change the question format if required.

  1. You can enter/modify the Survey name and industry, and complete creating your survey quickly and easily with AI. You can add, edit, delete question in your survey anytime even after survey creation.

To edit/delete AI generated Survey questions
  1. After entering your own prompt, or generate one using the Generate Prompt option, or select a predefined prompt to create survey, a list of questions will be generated.

  2. Click the Edit questions button to edit or delete the questions.

  1. You can modify or remove the question from the left side of the survey creation dashboard.
  2. You can add,edit, delete question in your survey at any time, even after survey creation.
