Customizing Cliq Module Preferences in Trident (macOS)

In this article, we'll see how you can customize the Cliq module in Trident to suit your preferences.

Using Cliq as Module and Chat Bar

Trident gives you various options to customize how you use Cliq. You can either use it as a chat bar, a separate module, or both.

To apply these customizations:

  1. Click your profile image on the top-right corner of the app.
  2. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Cliq.
  4. In the Cliq Preferences section, toggle on the Enable Chat Bar and Enable Cliq as a Module options. 

Notes

Note: Toggling off both the Enable Chat Bar and Enable Cliq as a Module options, will disable the Cliq module in Trident.  

When you enable Cliq as a module, you can customize it further as illustrated below.

View Cliq in a module or window.

 

 

 

 

View Cliq chats in single sheet, broad sheet, or tab modes.

 

 

 

 


Notes
Note: If you have set your preference to open Cliq in a new window, you can switch between your signed-in Zoho Mail accounts using the account switch option located at the top-right corner of the window.

Customizing Chatbox and Chat Message Appearance

To determine how your chat messages appear in Cliq, customize the options by going to your profile image > Settings > Cliq > Chatbox/Chat List sections.

Adjust the chatbox size as small, medium, or large while using Cliq as a chatbar.

 

 

 

Align the incoming and outgoing messages in the same or alternate sides.

 

Change the message bubble theme to light or dark.

 

List the chats in comfort, compact, or super compact modes.

List threaded conversations inline with parent chats, separately in recent chats, or in tabs.


Here are other ways to customize the Cliq chat list views. 

From the Cliq module home page:
  1. Click the More Options  icon on the Cliq home page.
  2. Select Appearance from the menu list.
  3. Choose between Comfort, Compact, or Super Compact under List Mode from the menu list.  

From the Cliq chatbar: 

  1. Click the Cliq  icon at the bottom-left corner of the app. 
  2. Click the More Options  icon.
  3. Select Appearance from the menu list.
  4. Choose between Comfort, Compact, or Super Compact under List Mode from the menu list.


To customize the chatbox size while using Cliq as a chat bar:

  1. Click the Cliq  icon at the bottom-left corner of the app. 
  2. Click the More Options  icon.
  3. Choose between Small, Medium, or Large under Chatbox Size from the menu list.

NotesNote: To expand or shrink the size of a chatbox further than the set size of small, medium, or large, double-click the chat.

Granting Microphone, Camera, and Screen Record Access

If the Cliq module isn't able to access the system microphone, camera, or screen-record to allow you to use audio, video, and screen-share, you must manually grant it access. 

To grant Trident access to your device microphone:

  1. Navigate to your Mac's System Settings app and select Privacy and Security.
  2. Select Microphone.
  3. Find Trident and toggle the microphone access on.
  4. Click Quit and Reopen in the alert dialog box that appears. Or, click Later as you prefer. 

To grant Trident access to your device camera:

  1. Navigate to your Mac's System Settings app and select Privacy and Security.
  2. Select Camera.
  3. Find Trident and toggle the camera access on.
  4. Click Quit and Reopen in the alert dialog box that appears. Or, click Later as you prefer.

To grant Trident access to record your screen:

  1. Navigate to your Mac's System Settings app and select Privacy and Security.
  2. Select Screen & System Audio Recording .
  3. Find Trident and toggle the screen record access on.
  4. Click Quit and Reopen in the alert dialog box that appears. Or, click Later as you prefer. 

NotesNote: Granting screen share permission will end your ongoing call or meeting. You must initiate a new call or meeting after quitting and relaunching the app. Then you'll be able to share your screen. 

Enabling Read Receipts

To enable or disable Read Receipts, per your privacy convenience: 

  1. Click your profile image in the top-right corner of the app.
  2. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Cliq.
  4. In the Privacy section, toggle on or off the Read Receipts option.

NotesNote: When you disable this option, just as users who send you messages won't receive the Read Receipt, you also won't receive it for messages you send. 

Configuring Cliq Chat Notifications

To enable or disable notifications for chat messages:

  1. Click your profile image in the top-right corner of the app.
  2. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Notifications and then open Cliq. 
  4. Toggle the Enable Notifications for Cliq Chats button on or off.

When you have enabled notifications for chat messages, you can further decide if you want to:

  • Enable or disable alert sound for chat notifications
  • Show or hide message preview for chat messages in notifications

Notes:

  • For the custom notification tones to take effect on macOS devices, you must restart your iMac or MacBook. This is due to inherent limitations in macOS.

  • Hovering over the notification sound option reveals Play icon, allowing you to hear a preview of the sound before making your selection.



Configuring Cliq Call Notifications        

To enable or disable notifications for Cliq calls:
  1. Click your profile image on the top-right corner of the app.
  2. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Notifications then open Cliq.
  4. Toggle the Show Incoming Calls on or off.

When you have enabled notifications for calls, you can further decide if you want tenable it for :
  • Audio and Video Calls

  • Screen Share Calls

Using Shortcuts

Trident offers various keyboard shortcuts to use the Mail module. To view these shortcuts:

  1. Click your profile image on the top-right corner of the app.
  2. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Shortcuts.
  4. Scroll down to the Cliq and Cliq Launcher section and you'll find the shortcuts mentioned below.
