Searching for Emails in Trident (macOS)
In this article, we'll see how you can search for emails, Streams groups, folders, tags, and views in the Mail module.
Understanding Search Parameters
Trident offers more than 45 distinct search parameters. Each parameter and its function are described below.
Search by email fields:
Search by email content:
Search by attachment details:
Search for emails by date:
Note: You can select emails between a specific date range using the From and To date filters.Search emails:
Searching for Emails
There are three ways to search for emails:
- Begin typing your search keywords in the search bar and select the relevant parameter from the listing that appears.
- Choose the parameter first and then type in the search keyword.
- Include multiple search parameters in the search bar to narrow down the search results.
Searching for Spam or Trashed Emails
To search for emails in spam and trash folders:
- Type in the search keywords.
- Use the 'In Folder' parameter and select 'Spam' or 'Trash'.
Searching for Emails From Frequent Contacts
You can view emails from your frequent contacts without having to select any search parameters by simply clicking on the contact image in the search dropdown menu.
Searching for Streams Groups, Folders, Tags, and Views
To look up any Streams group, folder, tag, or view:
- Swipe down the left pane to bring up the Search option.
- Type your search query regarding any Streams group, folder, tag, or view. The relevant search results will be listed below.
Viewing Recent Search Results
The recent searches appear below the search parameters. You can view the five most recent searches that were performed.
Searching and Listing Emails by Sender
Right-click the email in the list view.
Select List Emails From This Sender.
Searching and Listing Emails By Subject
To list all emails that share the same subject line:
Right-click the email in the list view.
Select List Emails With This Subject.
Saving Search
If there are certain search keywords that you use repeatedly, you can save the search and easily access those emails without searching for them each time. To save a search:
In the Search Bar, type your search keywords and press return.
The list of relevant search results will be displayed.
Click Save This Search at the top of the list view.
Name the search and click Save.
Notes:
All the saved searches will be listed under the Saved Searches section in the folder pane.
The Saved Search section will only appear when there is at least one saved search. If all the saved searches are deleted, then the section will not be shown.
Each saved search stores the keywords. Every time you click open a saved search, a new search will be performed, and the results will include the newer emails, as well.
Renaming Saved Search
To rename a saved search:
Right-click the saved search you want to rename.
Select Rename from the menu list.
Type the new name and press return.
Note: Press esc to revert. Deleting Saved Search
To delete a saved search:
Right-click the saved search you want to delete.
Select Delete from the menu list.
Click Delete in the alert that appears.
