How to use the Scribble tool on mobile

The scribble tool is a light yet powerful drawing tool that lets you sketch out pictures or write quick notes on the go. Whether it’s a rough map or the draft to your next big thing, the scribble tool has got you covered.

Scribbling on Android

Note:
You need to have an Android device with Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above to use the latest features.
  1. Select a folder where you have permission to create new files and press the New (+) button in the bottom-right corner.

  2. Select Scribble from the Create New menu.



  3. In the Scribble window, choose from the editing options:


    1. There are three types of drawing tools: Pencil, Pen, and Marker. You can double-tap the options to change their thickness and color. Additionally, you can use the color wheel to utilize more color options for your scribbles.

    2. Eraser tool: Remove parts of your sketch. You can double-tap this option to change the area of removal.

    3. Color wheel: Add more colors to your scribble palette.

      Tip:
      You can also access the color wheel by swiping right on the color selection screen after double-tapping a drawing tool.

    4. Screen Orientation button: Change the orientation of the drawing screen.

    5. Collapse Menu buttonCollapse the editing options until you reopen it.

    6. Erase all (represented with the broom icon): Clean out the screen and start things afresh.

    7. Undo/Redo (represented with the left and right arrow icons): Return to a previous drawing step or come back to the present.

      Once you are finished with the scribble, click Save in the top-right corner. Your scribble will be saved as a JPG file in the selected folder.

    8. If you don’t wish to save it by any chance, click on the close (x) button on the top-left and select Discard when prompted else you can select Keep Changes and continue working on it.

Scribbling on iOS

Note:

You need to have an Apple device with iOS 13 or higher to install and use the latest features.


  1. Select a folder where you have permission to create new files and press the New/Upload (+) button at the bottom.

  2. Select Photos.



  3. Choose Scribble.


  4. In the Scribble window, choose from the following options:



    1. There are three types of drawing tools: Pen, Marker, and Pencil. To access drawing thickness or transparency options, long-press these buttons.

    2. Eraser tool: Remove parts of your sketch. You can double-tap this option to change how you remove elements in your scribble: the pixel eraser for removing small areas or, the object eraser, which removes complete elements or in this case, objects.

    3. Magic wand tool: Lets you cut a specific element in your scribble and move it to another location in the screen. While having this option selected, you can long-press the screen to either select all elements or insert a space above the current scribble. 
      Additionally, you can use the magic wand tool to cut, copy, or duplicate an element. To do this, long-press on the element with the magic wand tool active and choose one of the options.

    1. Ruler tool: This is a nifty tool that adds a ruler which lets you lay proper lines.
      1. Drag the ruler with a finger to move its position.
      2. Pinch the ruler with two fingers to rotate it.

    2. Color Selector: The color selector lets you add more colors to your scribble palette. There are three options that let you choose from a multitude of color options:

        
      1. Grid: You can choose a base color from a 12 x 10 grid.
      2. Spectrum: The spectrum options let you pick a color from the RGB color spectrum.
      3. Sliders: In this option, you can mix and match with RGB color ratios using the sliders or input a known hex-code for a color.

        Additionally, there’s a universal option for opacity that shows your currently used colors on the palette. In the top left of the color window is a color picker button that lets you select a color to use for a scribble.
    1. Erase All (represented with the broom icon): Use this function to clean out the screen and start things afresh.
    2. Undo/Redo (represented with the left and right arrow icons): You can use these functions to return to a previous drawing step or come back to the present.

Once you are finished with the scribble, click Save at the top-right corner. Your scribble will be saved as a PNG file in the selected folder. If you don’t wish to save it then click on the close (x) button at the top-left corner of the screen.
